Anyone else a little addicted to checking out jewelry on eBay (or any other online consignment shop)?? Feel free to share your conquests here!

My most recent is this dainty eternity and it just won't. stop. SPARKLING. Everywhere I turn, every type of lighting, it's like wham, sparkles! I am beyond pleased with the price I paid, completely blown away with the quality. Really comfortable ring that's already earned a spot in my daily wear.

Solitaire pictured is also from eBay, authentic Tiffany.

Please show me yours!

I think it would be great if we could use this thread to share tips on how to find the best deals, identify genuine pieces/quality stones from the limited photos available etc!
Great idea!

Here's a few:
-use picclick to search similar items
-picclick also shows how long an item's been listed, which is really useful if you're thinking of making an offer on a BIN (items listed unsold for months may be easier to make lower offers on)
-if purchasing second hand brand-name items, look up photos on the official website and compare every. single. detail. Tiffany's is often faked. Attention to quality in the details is often a dead giveaway. Look at the prongs, the finish, clasp etc besides the fineness of the stamp.
-if you're really interested in a piece, you can always ask for more photos! Most sellers are happy to comply, as it makes their listing more attractive too.
-search for completed sold listings of similar items to get an idea of what would be considered a good price
-don't get caught up in bidding wars. Only bid your maximum price at the last moment of the auction.
-don't get emotional! Once you've decided on a maximum price, stick to it.
-lastly, seller feedback. I wouldn't be scared by a few negatives, but do read them and see if the fault lies in the seller or just an unreasonable buyer.

A lot of my fine jewelry comes from eBay, it's also a great way to get the quality of brands without paying the brand name markup!

All very wise! I’m not very experienced but I have recently discovered the filter function: you can filter by metal purity which really sorts the wheat from the chaff.

Great thread! Some of my favourite pieces have come from Ebay including my Tiffany yellow gold open link oval charm bracelet and Kiki McDonough earrings, you can find some lovely things on there at a fraction of the normal price.

View attachment 4284810 View attachment 4284811 I have been eyeing a Mappin and Webb 18 carat yellow gold and rose cut prasiolite pendant for a while. I finally took the plunge and made an offer and it arrived today! I’m really pleased with the quality, and its prettier in person than it looked on the listing. Thanks for letting me share

This is gorgeous! Any chance of seeing a modelling pic? I love prasiolite.

This is a quick pic of the Kiki earrings - the colour is very pale just as in the photo

So gorgeous with your colouring!

I think the colours are a good match and the pieces would look great together. The green looks very similar. If you go for it, the seller accepted my offer which was quite a bit lower than the asking price FYI.
