Hi everyone! So the past month I’ve had a HUGE life change, and I’ve decided to sell a ton of high end designer items. My question is, how do I sell them without losing a ton of money? It’s all LV, Chanel, Gucci, Dior in almost mint condition. I know those websites take a huge cut, like fashionphile and what not. I really would like to not lose a ton of money. I also have no friends who would be interested in buying them. Any tips or tricks? I’ve had horrible experiences on ebay, and I’m hesitant to send all my stuff to a consignment like real real.

If you have had horrible experiences on eBay (I assume bad buyers) then you take some of the same risks when selling yourself to any stranger no matter the platform you use. While Fashionphile, Real Real, etc may take a chunk, you should consider it payment for avoiding hassles with bad buyers, potential returns, their fees, PayPal fees, and your time in creating a listing for each and every single item. What is your time worth?

I sell on various platforms (Facebook groups, Instagram, etc) where I don't deal with that for the most part. However, I do submit some items to Fashionphile as there are rare occasions they offer me more than I would get selling on my own. Sometimes I have to resubmit a month after a bad quote from them. Again, is your time worth money or are you patient/willing to take up your time?

You're an O.G. here on TPF, so are you able to post your items for sale in the Marketplace? There is a thread in the O.G. section, about being invited if you're interested, you just have to ask Swanky to add you. We need to see your new stuff in there !!

I have sold a lot of bags on eBay and (knock on wood) I haven’t had any issues. I’ve also sold on tradesy but usually make more $ on eBay. You should generally expect a better return on Chanel and LV than Gucci and dior. I refuse to sell to fashionphile or other sites as the offers they have given me are laughable. eBay is your best bet and you’ll have the most traffic there. eBay takes about 13% and most other sites have fees that are almost twice as much. If you do decide to sell on eBay, I would take pics from all angles, be detailed in the description about signs of wear, state that you don’t accept returns and ship with insurance and require signature always. I also record myself packaging the handbag just in case. I have not lost money selling LV or Chanel but it’s because I usually sell bags that are in demand. You can always price the bags at what you think they’re worth and adjust the price if needed. Also, always ship only to the address that the buyer has on their eBay profile and checkout the buyer’s feedback before shipping. It does take more work than selling to FP or the realreal and it requires more patience especially if you price your item right, but in my experience it has always paid off. I don’t like taking huge losses on bags that have barely any signs of wear. Good luck to you!

Hello,
Anyone have experience selling Hermes bags? I'm having buyer's remorse on an impulse purchase (because it doesn't match anything in my closet) but it's a new color combination, but I'm really hoping to find someone who will appreciate and love this picotin.
Thank you!!

This is interesting. How do I get invited? Even if I cannot sell anything now, can I still buy anything off from any the sellers there?

I'm not a moderator so maybe you can get in by being an OG but I've seen the mods saying they want people that are active on the forum. You have very few posts.
You do have to be part of it for buying as well as selling. You wouldn't be able to see what's for sale w/o being a "member" of MP
