Selling Cartier on TRR

Three years ago, I sold a Panthere watch on TRR and they paid 85% of the commission. The watch sold quickly and I was pleased. However, they also ā€œlostā€ a diamond ring of mine and I had to escalate the matter by writing to their legal counsel to get compensated for the loss. Before involving their attorneys, TRR wouldn’t respond to any of my inquiries and, because of that, I’ll never consign with them again.

My daughter took a number of my Ippolita and Marco Bicego pieces to TRR on Melrose in LA (so it was done in person). All sold and "she" made a tidy profit with no drama. That's my only experience with selling and it was over a year ago.

Mixed bag of experiences. I've sold things on there with no issue. I've also seem them list things with bad information, crummy photos that don't do a piece justice, and price things poorly. I think it's OK to work with them if you are prepared to do some oversight.

They lost $4,000 worth of designer items I sent in, most NIB Hermes, and I had to threaten legal action.

Besides it being rather common for TRR workers to run off with your stuff, the price that’s put on your item will depend on the person who processes your it. I’ve seen things sell for ridiculously low prices, and with a recent Cartier piece, it should have been priced at least $600 more. Both the consignor and the company lost out. There’s no research done on what previous items sold for, and you’re supposed to be able to contest the price they set. That won’t help you if it sells first.

Hi,

Has anyone sold any Cartier jewelry on The RealReal and if so, what was your experience? TIAšŸ˜€
I sell with the TRR before, they send a sales person to pick up in-home. And never told me the price, by the time when they list the items, they make all 20%-30% on top of that. And the final sell I need to split 50/50 with them, so basically I left $40 for most of Ferragamo items. I send at least 20 items. All tehy cheap sell it. Try to sell on your on ā€œVestaireā€ . Also I send my Love Cartier necklace for quote at the Fashionphile, retail $2700 they quote me $1000, and the Cartier balloon watch, retail =$5050 , they quote me $1700. All brand new like Condtion.

I sold a Chanel tweed I got from them after needing the funds. Lost about 1500 from when I got it - but I was too lazy to sell on own and considered it good value I got back. Bag sold within a month of me sending and listing it etc
