I managed to get the last washed blue small trifold in the world a while back but have only used it a few times. I just don’t get on with shoulder bags very well. I’ve been offered a baby SDJ in blue which is the colour I debated before I bought it in pink.

I love the trifold style and colour but don’t use it. However it’s a Phoebe bag I’ll never get again. I love my sac de jour and use it a lot but I have a problem with buying bags in duplicate colours  of course that could be interpreted as I know what works for me.

Opinions welcome :flowers:

Hmm...not an easy choice. On the one hand, you have the Trifold bag that you love (color, and designer), but don't use, and on the other you have the YSL bag in a color and style that you love and will likely use, but there's the multiples issue.
I'm wondering if it might be easier to make this decision if they were two separate bag collection decisions.

I don't know much about the Trifold bag, but if you're not using it because of a design feature (shoulder straps), then I would not hang on to it, even though I think it's a lovely shade of blue. I understand that it's hard to get, but are there other Phoebe bags in your collection that would fill that need to have a Phoebe bag? If so, then, I think it would be easier to let go of this one.

Regarding the YSL, yes, multiples are a slippery slope. However, having two of the same bag is still okay in my book, especially if it's a bag that you know you will use often. So you could allow yourself just one other SDJ. Or you could pass on the SDJ, and just wait for something else down the road -- just depends on how much you want it in that particular color, I guess.

I have two SDJs in Baby size. I love them and get a lot of wear out of both (my grey one in particular has travelled with me to 7 different countries over the years). I don't think you should have to be torn between something beautiful that you don't use vs. something that you use a lot but perhaps doesn't excite you as much. I always go with functionality. A bag should be worn and it should be comfortable to use, otherwise you may as well invest in a painting or some other artwork that is nice to look at. The novelty or "flutter" you feel eventually fades so a couple of years from now, your Trifold may just be a very expensive ornament on your shelf. Finding a bag that attracts you is easy, finding one that works with your lifestyle and that will see you through the years is actually quite rare.
Same goes for romantic partners!

I love the color of the washed blue trifold but also a fan of SDJ- so I am no help! I don’t think you can go wrong with either choice as long as you won’t have regrets selling the trifold. But in my experience, once I consider selling a bag, it is the right choice to let it go.
