Hello everyone! I have a large collection of bags that include Kenneth Cole, BCBG, Dooney, Coach, MK, Prada and LV. I am thinking about getting rid of a lot of them and need help on the best way to go about it. I don't really feel like doing the whole ebay thing, taking pictures, etc. What are your opinions??

Depends what you need out of these bags. Only the LV and Prada would be accepted for consignment by the major online consigners. Some you can donate or give away, because they have nearly no resale value. The others you could bring to a local consignment store, or list on Craigslist if you feel safe doing that.

Definitely make sure that all are authentic before you move them along.

I have had a lot of success selling low to mid range bags on eBay. The least expensive I sold was an old $16 Nine West bag and the most expensive I've sold was a $725 sequined Coach Poppy. No issues with any of the buyers but I'm VERY careful to take lots of clear, focused pictures and give completely accurate descriptions of the features and condition of the bag. I also carefully wrap my bags to make sure they arrive in good condition. Being a good seller doesn't assure you of a hassle free sale but it helps keep issues to a minimum. I don't mind selling on eBay. It's kind of a hobby for me to resell my things.

For more expensive bags over $1000 (e.g. Valentino, Fendi, Chanel) I use consignment. When the value gets high, I get concerned about fraud. Using a good consigner helps me avoid those issues.

Good luck!

The only brands you've mentioned that might have some resale value are LV and Prada, as a previous poster also mentioned. I've sold several bags to Fashionphile and Yoogis closet and have had good experiences with both. Good luck!

I sold my contemporary designer bags at a local consignment shop to save myself the hassle of shipping and ebay. I didn't get top dollar, but it was worth it to me to have space in my closet again.

As many of us have alluded to, do you want top / maximum dollar or hassle free?

If you are willing to take the time to list your bags, then selling them yourself (eBay, Tradesy, etc.) is the way to go to get the most for your money. There is a buyer for almost anything. So your non designer items such as Coach, Kenneth Cole and BCBG will get sold as long as you price and photograph them well.

If you don't want to be bothered with selling and service, then consign. But know, the national resellers want true designer bags so your non designer bags would have to go to charity.

Don't do Craigslist. It's not safe.

Again, for me, it's worth taking 8-10 minutes while I'm watching TV to snap 12 good photos and post a description from my phone to sell items I don't want. The sale of a bunch of little items adds up quickly to proceeds to buy one or two substantial designer items.

I used to sell on eBay and I never had a major problem. However, I switched to selling by consignment because it was so much easier. The pay out is lower with consignment but, my goodness, it's stress-free. I used to worry that stock tends to stagnate at consignment stores but that hasn't been the case so far.

I've used Fashionphile, Yoogi's Closet, Ann's Fabulous Finds and had good experiences with all. Now I consign with Reebonz but that's because of their location (or my location, as the case may be).

I haven't used Bag, Borrow or Steal yet, but I saw that Coach is one of the brands they will buy and was thinking of selling to them. They appear to buy other contemporary designers, and not just premiere designers like Fashionphile or Yoogi's
