Should I sell my classic flap for the coco handle? I only have one chanel bag, I have a 2 year old and my classic flap hardly gets used because of my lifestyle at the moment. The bag is turquoise in lambskin and I'm worried something will happen too it when I'm out and about (especially with my little girl)
I feel like I would get a lot more use out of the coco handle as I would like to get it in caviar leather.. but the classic flap is such a lovely bag and getting so expensive now I just don't want to regret my decision..
Sorry this is rather long winded but I have been on the fence about this for a few months now and I don't know what to do!

Any advice from you wonderful people would be greatly appreciated 🥰

I like both styles, but no, I don't think so, not least because the handles now are not available in lizard. Unless you literally have no other bags. You certainly will have a hard time finding such an extraordinary colour as your CF.

Time moves fast, your gorgeous little girl will grow and the stress of going out with her will become a bit less. I don't have children, but I look after my little cousins (10 & 5) so I do appreciate the predicament, a 2 y o would need even more focus. I take one of my knock-around bags when we go out. One day soon you'll be able to carry your beautiful and rare CF again.

I have a medium CF, a small/medium Coco Handle, and an almost 2 y/o, and I want to sell my Coco handle. I wear my bags crossbody and find that the trapezoidal shape and the top handle make it more cumbersome than the CF which sits flush against my body. Also, I am gravitating towards mini bags because I always have a second big bag now for work or baby stuff, so I never fill up my coco handle anymore. If I want a similar-shaped bag, I prefer my K25 in Epsom, which is hardier than caviar leather. My biggest problem currently is that my baby girl wants to wear all my bags and drag them on the floor, so when I am with her I have to stick to the knock-around bags anyway, and I don't think that a Coco Handle will be safer in that situation than a CF.
My vote is also to keep the CF!

I agree with the posts above. If I were you, I would keep. Not that I have children (though my dog children are forever big babies lol).

I kind of wanted the Coco handle for a while. Humming and hahing about it. It is still a very classic style and very cute.

But when I heard that the corner wear and tear was easy-to-happen, and common, it was a no for me. I do not baby my bags and I will bump them around and hit them on things. Therefore, my bags need to be able to sustain my kind of rough handling to a certain extent.
I feel that as a busy mom, if you got the Coco handle, you would wear it crossbody for portability and convenience and that would put it at risk of getting accidentally hit or brushed against something.

I'd say keep it. Like @papertiger said, time will fly and your little girl will grow up before your eyes. Mommyhood is an adjustment but as children go through different stages of their life, they won't be children forever. Many mommys on this forum and in real-life put away their bags in hibernation, to later bring them out again once their children have grown. There will be a day when you can happily wear your CF bag out often again!

A coco handle is not an ideal bag for a mom of toddlers. The caviar is durable yes but it's a bulky. I do use mine crossbody by adding an extension to the chain and I do think it's much easier to use as a daily bag compared to a classic flap. But your classic flap is unique and I think you'll regret letting it go when your kids get older and you have the flexibility to use it again.

I know you didn't ask, but I suggest trying on a Chanel 19. I think that's the perfect daily bag, especially for mom's that want to be able to crossbody/shoulder carry/top handle carry all in one and look fab at the same time

I have both, and echoing what others are saying here.. I am not sure if a Coco handle will be much better. The one great thing about the Coco handle is that it does have the cross body strap so you can go hands free. Unfortunately, though, handles are prone to discoloration (I haven't experienced it yet, but my SA warned me, so I now use a twilly) and so is the little lock in the CC claspe (mine faded fast).

Put it in a display case high in your closet where you see it. When your daughter is 8 or so, maybe you will get more use out of it. Even if you only use it for special occasions a few times a year, if it is special to you and you love it, I would keep it.

I also have a toddler (a 3yo and a 6 mth baby) and I also have a lambskin turquoise classic flap which gets very little use! But I think it’s beautiful and am not planning to sell any of my lambskin chanel bags any time soon. They’re used mainly for dinners out with dh or occasions when I don’t have the kids on me. I personally wouldn’t sell a classic flap for a coco handle.

Even my caviar chanel bags I think aren’t really every day bags, although I do cycle through them more often.

My recommendation would be to keep the classic flap but get another bag as your every day beater bag, such as a vintage caviar woc, another cheaper Chanel vintage or a vintage Louis Vuitton bag, something that still makes you feel special every day but doesn’t stress you out with the toddler.

I had the same issue as you 14yr ago.
I had bought the classic flap (black with GHW in caviar) just a few days before the big increase.
I think I bought it near my 30th birthday. My daughter was 1yo then.
I was a SAHM at that time and I try to use it casually when I was out on the weekdays with my toddler.
I wasn't so afraid to use it as it was caviar and in black but I had a problem with styling it as I was pushing a pram most of the time and I had to deliberately dress better to match the bag.
After a year I decided to sell it. I think I sold it for about the same price as I paid. I did not know it could have fetched more as the price had increased a lot within that period of time.
Did I regret it? Yes and no.
Looking back the price is now 2.5 times of what I paid 14yr ago. It was a pity that I sold it too soon.
But it did not fit into my lifestyle at all. Even if I had kept it I doubt I would have gotten much use of it.
It is still a bittersweet feeling whenever I think about it.
Sorry I cannot offer you a better judgement but your post reminds me of my youth haha

Definitely would not sell cf in such an amazing color for coco handle. I have several cf and I find them easier to crossbody that coco handle. Nothing beats a CF imo. Always chic regardless if you wear today or 5 years from now

Thank you for everyone's kind response. I have decided against the coco handle. My other consideration would be the woc as I feel I would get much more use out of it x

The WOC would be a great piece as long as you are realistic about its capacity. I have 2 and love them, but one must pare down daily carry items to use.
