Would love to get some thoughts! Chloe recently changed their Faye Day bag (I’m not a fan of the new design) and now I’m thinking it’s a good time to sell my original Faye Day and put the funds toward the Dior saddle WOC? And advice is appreciated! 8AD177D2-2797-4572-AFE6-1CAB3CD0753D.jpeg

Would the Dior be big enough for you?
It's much smaller than your Chloe..
I had a stunning crushed raspberry mini Dior which I sold as it just about fitted keys, lipstick and a card..

I didn't lose money, but the buyer relisted it for 3 times the price the following day!

Would you get enough for your Chloe to justify the risk?xxxx

Wow! Re-listing 3 times the next day is ridiculous!

Thank you for your insight! The Dior is very small, I do prefer small bags vs. larger as I just take necessities with me.

Chloe was my first real designer love, which has grown into love of many designers and bags. Maybe I’m just a little tired of the bag, since I’ve had it for some time. But I would need to sell for enough to be worth it!

Chloe resale value is quite terrible unfortunately. Expect around a 30% drop in price minimum, even for a bag in excellent condition. (This is from personal experience as well as a quick glace at the current 2nd-hand market.)

[I have sold other designer bags (YSL, Z&V) for basically retail price but those bags were in excellent/near new condition, as that was going through a private seller who was a friend of mine so he basically took little to almost no commission from me.]

There's nothing wrong with selling a bag to fund another bag. Just make sure you want the new bag a lot more than the one you are consider selling.

Exactly

Tbh, I’d probably sell half my bags to fund a new one, but it would bring so little I can’t bring myself to…

It definitely is a bitter pill to swallow when reselling luxury items. Unless they are the classic designs from LV, Chanel, and Hermes, the value will almost always go down relatively significantly.

It took me quite some time to come to terms with selling a Chloe bag for about 40% off retail price (years ago). But it was sitting in my closet for so long (and I have a huge pet peeve with leaving items collecting dust and not using them ) that it came to a point when it was bothering me more that I had a bag that was not used and sitting there collecting dust, than taking the loss of reselling. So that's why I sold my Chloe bag. And from that point on, I could not (and still cannot) bring myself to buy Chloe bags brand new.

Last year I went mad buying designer biker jackets-I’m do small they fit children so I’m not selling any more.

I Would gift them but I don’t have many relatives and close girl friends..but I have unused bags with the tag which I cannot imagine using-my Lulu Guinness is worth £350 and is bnwt but I couldn’t sell it for that and unless my niece would carry it I don’t know who else would and she’s a university student so I hate to think it would get destroyed although it was an impulse buy and I don’t even like it.

I could get rid of 25-50% of my bags and not even notice, but I can’t bring myself to sell them for next to nothing….

I understand, if you're not ready, then you're not ready. Sellers remorse is a real thing so you need to do what you feel is best.

Just something to think about, the longer the bags are with you, the more they will depreciate in value, so that will make it even hard to accept the resale cost later down the line. But of course, that is if you are 100% sure you want to resell.

I have quite a few SLGs that I no longer use and I'm just waiting for all my relative's and friend's kids to grow up to give it to them, haha.

About your niece, I understand it's hard to see something worth so much given to a person who may not understand the work you've put into buying the bag.
But I remember when I graduated high school and was just about to go to college/university. My cousin handed me down my very first luxury bag, a fendi baguette! I absolutely loved that bag. I knew it was luxury but honestly did not understand that kind of cost for luxury if you know what I mean. However, I used that bag all the time! I wore it shopping, to parties, events, everything and I wore it to death. All the leather from the strap split into 3 layers, the glazing was cracked and the fabric got a bit worn down. It eventually went to bag heaven. But I will always remember the bag she gave me and how much I loved using it. And most importantly, I remember that it was my cousin who gave me the bag, knowing full well that it was something that I did not pay for and did not quite fully understand until years later haha.

Tbh my niece Does appreciate everything and idolises me.

She knows I’m not well enough to work ever again, she still has the life size doll I bought when she was born and I was living in Paris, in hospital and really had to save for her, even has a name for her!

She just went to uni, I couldn’t part with a bag…now I wish I’d given her a bag, I bought her a red leather bag which she seems happy with, but I could have given her the lulu
I bought an expensive ring for her 18th which she treasures, maybe I underestimate her -hopefully in 2022 I’ll be able to sell or gift bags I’m not going to carry…8C03E873-BE0D-484C-9AB3-D4FEA7B589FF.jpeg

Aww so sweet! That's great that she appreciates what you give her. I'll sure you'll have time to sort things out!
