Second hand bv, key?

Hi everyone

i bought a second hand bv from an acquaintance. I want to use it as a work bag. It’s the Stile where the corners are pinned down and you can take them up and then you have a bigger tote stile. The handles can adjust so that it can be over the shoulder or hand held. It’s bought in 2011 in New York. So back to the problem. One of the corners is pinned down and the lock attached. Well I don’t have a key. She had lost it several years ago and not used the bag more then a couple of times. So any ideas where to get a key? Or how to open the lock? I don’t need the lock so I could break it as well but how? Without damaging the bag.

A photo would be helpful. I suggest taking your bag to BV and seeing if they can do the repair. Or you could contact Modern Leather directly since that is who does a lot of BV’s repairs in the US.

Sounds like a Montaigne.
Have you tried to fashion a paper clip or something to open the lock? As @grietje wrote, I’d take it into your local BV boutique and ask if they could assist you in opening the lock. They may even have a spare key lying around.
BTW: the key looks like this (easy enough to make something similar)

*Mine is actually a little bit bent but does the job.
** Montaigne, Roma, Capri etc. all used the same key if I remember correctly
