I have decided to change my e-ring setting, and place my diamond into a new, slimmer, platinum ring. Right now, my diamond is in this 18k white gold setting:

The ring was one I had had for a very long time, was a gift from my mom for my 21st birthday and used to hold a garnet.

But after some consideration, I think my diamond would look so much better on my hand in a slim solitaire, like this one:

So what I really need now is a trusted jeweler who can make this ring for me, and not rip me off in the process. When I lived in SF, I always went to Derco Diamonds, and loved them so, but alas, I would need to make a trip there to get this done and don't plan to for a while.

What do you all think? Any advice appreciated!

Another pic of the style I want: a simple comfort band, 2-2.5mm in width, six prongs

Okay I ordered my ring today and get it in a week! I got it from Turgeon Raine downtown, it's a plain platinum flush fit setting, so it's just like this except mine has a center stone only:

I picked up my ring today!! It is SO gorgeous. The perfect platinum throne for my marquise diamond. Yay. I'll take pictures in natural daylight on Thursday.
