You're in NY so you must be surrounded by H&Ms....they have a ton of military-inspired coats and jackets in for Fall/Winter. You should stop by soon and see what they have!

I had this same problem but finally found a cute one from Free People. It's called the 'Platoon' jacket. I can't wait to recieve it!

^ I got myself a simple mbmj trench (little too light for winter anyways) a couple of years back when the military hype started and just changed the buttons to a sort of gold, uniform kind of thing - totally did the trick and cost me next to nothing. just took them off bec I like the parka look of the coat now..

so if you see a simple wool coat (good quality) you like why not think about this? and when you are tired of the look you can always put back the original buttons.
