I've begun the hunt for an Evelyne and visited my local Hermes. The raisin PM they showed me had what appeared to be a scratch in the epsom leather. However, the SA and her manager insisted it was an imperfection in the leather and that most bags come with some sort of imperfection. It sounds like bull (pardon the pun). It was a scratch and they were lying through their teeth, correct?

Maybe I should have asked to see the fuschia pm evelyne...

That does sound like bull because epsom isn't a naturally textured leather and has the grain embossed onto it, therefore how could there be an imperfection :shrugs:

An "imperfection in the leather"! I tell you H bags do not come with "imperfections" - grains and veining in textured leather is normal, a new bag just off the shelf should not be sold with visible imperfections or scratches. Trust your instinct with this, H is expensive and therefore the bag you buy should be perfect in your own eyes.

Total lie. Like Mooks said, Epsom leather is a stamped and coated skin, so no evidence of the actual natural skin is really present. It is a scratch.

Epsom despite being stamped during the treating process, is still leather. It does and will get scratched during use if the bag is not babied.

There is no Fuchsia Evelyne. Closest bright colour would be Cyclamen, which has since been discontinued.

I have a cylamen Birkin...It is not my favourite leather Epsom.....But the colour is divine....and there should be NO SCRATCHES...!Unless you put them there..!(Like I did On her maiden voyage)...

Imperfection or not, I would not buy a bag with a scratch or mark from a boutique. I am not super fussy, but I do want my boutique bags to be perfect. Second hand can have a mark or scratch, but must be priced accordingly.

Well, here's a newsflash - the SA lied about having a hot pink Evelyne. How does one confuse rouge garrance with hot pink?

When I do buy my Evelyne, it's not going to be at that location.
