Scary incident at the bank.

My boyfriend and I went to his bank yesterday afternoon to deposit his check. While we were standing in line, the man in front of us gave me a... really eerie feeling... and I just knew there was something odd about him.

The guy at the counter was taking a while, so we were in line for a while. Suddenly, for no reason... the man began YELLING at me that I was "invading his space" and that I needed to "move the f*ck back" ??? My boyfriend said back to him (calmly) that he needed to stop being such a jerk and that he needed to leave me alone. The man continued to scream at me... and the management came over and asked if there was a problem. And, allowed my boyfriend and I to move to the front of the line. The man continued to yell at us saying that my boyfriend should "watch his mouth." Then, the guy at the counter became involved and told the man to leave us alone. At this point, I was pretty freaked out. The crazy man even threatened to wait for the guy at the counter outside... and told him that if he did anything he would be "deported" (the man at the counter had an accent.) I thought THAT was pretty rude and uncalled for.

Anyway, my reason for this post is the way the management handled the situation. They didn't call the police... and they didn't even ask the crazy man to leave. They let my boyfriend and I get to the front of the line... but, that was it!

Anyone else have a strange incident happen at a bank? How did the management handle the whole thing? I was praying that the crazy man didn't have a gun... or other weapon on him. I was so happy when we got out of there and to our car safely to drive home!

Clearly , somebody had a really bad day or is just plain crazy.

It's always better to be safe than sorry. I'm shocked that they didn't call the police or have security escort him from the building atleast. Honestly, if this happened to me, I probably would've called the police myself.

Wow, how scary! That guy must have not been completely there mentally. Glad you made it out of the bank safely.

And I think banks probably don't intervene too much because they are afraid wackos like this may be carrying guns and don't want to provoke them. Doesn't make it right, but it's probably the case...

Wow, I'm really surprised they moved you to the front of the line... wouldn't that have incited the lunatic even more, that (to him) you ended up cutting him in line?? I think I would have just left immediately, it's not worth all the hassle trying to deposit a check. You could always go back later. My guess is that the bank knows this customer. Even lunatics can have money in the bank.

How terrifying! That would have spooked me, too. I've never witnessed altercations like that before-- bank or no bank. Everyone at my bank just minds their business and are in and out very quickly.

Yah I'm surprised that the bank didn't do anything more about the situation. That would have been really scary to be in your shoes, to have some random guy yell at you for no reason.

Im really suprised the bank did not call the police. My mother works in a bank and they have called the cops a few times when people get upset with bank policy and raise their voice.

yikes...someone forgot their meds that day...

im sure that was a scary and odd situation, im not sure what the bank protocols are for a disturbance, but i think they would have at least asked him to leave....but then again they wanted his money :P

OMG...crayzness.

I was once at my local bank...and as I was leaving, there were a few men that walked in dressed in black. My first reaction was..."weirdos". next thing I know, I'm on watching TV and the bank I was at was being robbed! WTH? This kind of stuff never happens in my town! And it was pretty shocking and scarry at the same time. I was lucky enough to leave right as they were entering.

The bank employees' blase' behavior suggests that either they were totally clue-less or that this was a familiar character to them. He sounds schizophrenic and sometimes the best way to handle someone like that is with calm patience. Not saying that the bank shouldn't have tossed him out but if they have dealt with him before maybe this is the tact they decided to take to keep a lid on the level of drama and the guy's disruptive behavior. And maybe they did call the police, but were trying to keep the guy calm and not provoke him too much while waiting for the police to arrive.
