THEME WEEKS for 2021 from TEAM SCARF MISTRESS

Just for fun, each Sunday begins a new Theme Week. This year, we have some real treats in store! We have a full complement of scarf mistresses and GSMs for 2021 and I want to give a quick shout out and thank you to my fellow SMs who helped with theme ideas and sorting out the calendar for 2021. My dear @xincinsin, @Cookiefiend, @Living.la.vida.fifi, @Karenska and @AnnaE , it was a pleasure working out the themes and calendar for the year with you all! The lovely @Julide will return to us again this year, and let's all welcome @turfnsurf and @Agrume for some of the GSM festivities in 2021. Please give them all a hand and a round of thanks for their upcoming efforts! Of course, there is always room for more! If you’d like to be a host, start a Conversation with one of us (@bunnycat, @Cookiefiend, @Living.la.vida.fifi, or @xincinsin ) by clicking the Inbox in the upper right corner.

The other treat for 2021 is in having one large interrelated stream of themes for the entire year! (Thank you @xincinsin! :faint:) The underlying thread (silk, of course  ) connecting each month is the holiday song The Twelve days of Christmas. Each month holds a reference to the song in one or more themes with the numbers matching the months.

Interestingly, the origin of the famous song was as a memory game in the 18th Century. And if you consider it would have been recited during festivities when lots of drinking was happening, the recipe for hilarity is pretty clear! And although it never really occurred to me before, but during a festival devoted to eating and drinking, it really shouldn't be a surprise that so many of the "gifts" are (food) birds! If you'd like to read a full essay on the meaning of each month here is a good one for you.

Everyone on this thread is a Scarfie who loves learning about specific designers, discovering new scarf knots, examining scarf details more carefully, and seeing MORE SCARVES. Even if it's off-theme, your SOTD is always welcome. Be creative, have fun with the topics, and SHOW US YOUR SCARVES — talk about them and add links to more information. We’re all friends here (definitely no Scarf Police) – so smile at your selfie camera and come play with us!
