My DM has always been a scarf lover and I’ve built up my collex by borrowing (indefinitely) from her and inheriting a lot of her scarves. On our trips to Paris when I was a teen, she offered to buy a scarf at the Hermès store, but I declined and chose perfume instead. The first two that she ever gave me to keep from her stash were Eperons d’Or and Pierres d’Orient et Occident.

The first that she actually purchased for me as a gift was Reves d’Australie because she said the design looked “anthropological” and she thought I would like that.

The first H scarf I actually purchased for myself was in an H boutique while on vacation to Spain. Since the subject of Les Jardins d’Andalousie is the gardens of the Alhambra, I decided that this would be the perfect souvenir from my trip. I actually put it away and didn’t intend to wear it, but contemplated on framing it instead. The designer is Aline Honore and little did I know then that her designs would become coveted Grails in the future for me and that I would own some of them in multiples.

The first scarf that DH gave me as a gift was Azulejos for a wedding anniversary a few years after that trip to Spain when noticing that I had a few H scarves and was beginning to actually like and wear them on occasion. It reminded him of the ceramic tiles we saw in the Plaza de Sevilla in Andalusia, Spain.

Lovely history with each and every one

Yay!!! It’s gonna be a great year! Thank you so much, @bunnycat for the wonderful intro... so, La Rosee was your first moussie! So lovely... and the rest, beautifully tied and paired as usual!

Beyond gorgeous and everyone is waiting to see it modeled!

So special! What a great first purchase! Beautiful knots...

You look so beautiful, @Cookiefiend !! And what a great story about your first purchase.
Who would’ve thunk that you would become a Scarf Queen! It is such a lovely one...

Gaaaaah! Gorgeous!

Oh so gorgeous! I so covet this scarf because I adore travel by ship. My first transatlantic crossing was on the QEII... but, it’s songard to come by! Yours are true treasures! And great scarf on site!

I love the neatness of this knot and being almost necklace looking... Beautiful!

You look amazing! First of all, I love your hair styled this way and what a great knotnwith the Mors! And, the PP is one of the most striking and elegant designs, especially in this CW!
Thank you!

Love your scarves and the stories! I have almost bought that Alahambra gardens scarf a few times. love your CW!

The first scarf I bought myself for me
what a treasure!

This is my first ever Hermès scarf, La Promenade de Platon, bought in the Spring of 2014. Like many on here, it was to be my one and only expensive designer scarf. After all, I am a very ordinary person, living on a pension and in a very small house. Well, one very slippery slope later and I am now totally out of room for any more and I have orange boxes balanced all over my bedroom. I wear one almost every day, even though I hardly ever manage to get out of bed, never mind actually leave the house. I don’t quite wear them with my pyjamas, but nearly.....

Here it is in a range of scarf ties. I might try to get a new modelling shot tomorrow.

So glad you have found such happiness with H scarves!

Thank you so much! I think that JdA is a super underrated design. It is gorgeous in my opinion with those arched colonnades, lush foliage, colored tiles and the exquisite fruit! I so recommend it!

It is gorgeous in this CW! This design is one of the first I purchased and actually wore immediately instead of just keeping it in the box to stare at. It’s so heartwarming to hear the joy that they bring to you... And, all great knots!

My very first H scarf was the result of my thinking that I needed to step up my appearance - to stop being that plain Jane all the time. I went in a mission looking at style blogs, Pinterest pages and fashion mags. In one of the blogs I found a woman who was building outfits around H scarves - hrmmm sed I. So off to eBay I went (because in the way back there was no way in h e double hockey sticks was I paying full price for a peice of silk - oh how times have changed! [emoji38]) and searched around when my eye was caught by a pale blue and textured (I had no idea about jacquard) silk - and it had falcons on it! Interesting! The seller was very kind (because I had zero feedback she asked that a buyer contact her) and we agreed on a price that I still think was fair.

I love this scarf. The seller disclosed that it was possibly stained on the corners. After receiving it and washing it, it is a little yellow-ish on the corners. I wrote to the seller and told her that I thought the scarf had been truly loved by its previous owner and that now it was my turn.

Because I didn’t get back on the 2018 thread before it was locked, I’d like to thank everyone for their kind words and likes. You guys are just the absolute best. [emoji173]️

Haha! We all started the same way (on the bay!)! That's a fab first scarf!

Fabulous start to the year bunny - thank you!
I didn't realize that La Rosee was your first moussie - talk about starting off with a bang!! View attachment 4297855

It was my first GM size...and I did't so much as slide down the GM slope after that as jump headfirst.....with my wallet in tow behind me...

First day to wear new MP moussie stole. Wore it three different ways with two outfits as temp jumps from 40 to 60 in three hours.

TWINS!!! Yay!!! It look fab on you!

Looking forward to seeing everyone’s firsts this week. Like @Cookiefiend, I bought my first few scarves off eBay.

After taking a voyage on QM2, I learned that there was a Queen Mary 2 scarf issued by Hermes in 2004 for the maiden voyage. It was only available on board in the Hermes boutique. In 2009, the design was reissued with no name on the ship. The scarf is simply called “ en avant toute!” Which means “ full speed ahead!”.
At any rate, I started my search for this scarf in 2013, long after the HA boutique had left the ship.
The very first scarf I bought was the 2009 version en avant toute! Shown below. The last pic is of the original 2004 Queen Mary 2 version, which I did eventually find on eBay some months later in unused condition.

I now have 2 addictions: H scarves, and taking QM2 transatlantic to beat jet lag.View attachment 4297940 View attachment 4297941 View attachment 4297942 View attachment 4297950

That's a superb first scarf- perfect memory for your voyage! (And I sometimes forget you wear something other than moussies!)

Not on topic but trying out the fifi knot on my 70 ..the one without the psychedelic horses. :crybaby:I really like the knot though ...so easy! Ulterior motive is testing how long I can take cashmere..the cashmere is so fine that my allergy doesn’t seem to be kicking in? I am desperate to get Awoo

View attachment 4297954

Oh- but it's still gorgeous with the waves stripes (and a great coloray)! (I wanted Les Zebres bandana for the same reason...to try out cashmere...I can say that it probably won't have the same pull for me the moussies do, but I won't rule out a GM)

Wonderful firsts bunnycat! You seem to suit every colour going!

Thank you kindly Pautinka!

Great topic for the first of the year. My first scarf was Panthera Pardus, back in April 2016. I was in Glasgow for a ball and had forgotten my heels for the event so headed out to the shops. I have always liked scarves so thought I would "just take a peek at Hermes" because, obviously, "I just couldn't justify spending that on myself on a piece of silk". I fell in love immediately and promised myself I would treat myself to just one....yep, right! And yes, I just keep the Letratag there beside the boxes ready for the next purchase! Oh- that's a great first scarf! Love PP! (Especially in the larger sizes...)

Thank you fifi! La Rosee was the first GM. It's only been 2 years since I found it and the only format I have more of right now is pocket squares...ooops....the GM's are catching up really quickly. :P

Those are very beautiful and special firsts. And I really love your color selections- always spectacular!

And what a first scarf that is too! A true treasure!

Such a comfort to know that I'm not the only one who thought she could buy just ONE H scarf

I'm not allergic to cashmere, but I dislike the feel of wool and cashmere against my skin. Unfortunately, some designs are only available in cashmere, so I get around it most of the time by wearing the scarf with collared shirts. I too am desperate to get Awooo :crybaby: (and Last Night - relying on @ksuromax's gorgeous pics to slake the acquisitiveness)

Hi, all! Happy to see the new thread. I just bought a Gardiens Des Arbres online that I have been hunting down for a bit — at a great price, too. Will post once i am back stateside to pick it up!
 I've been eyeing one too, but I'm skint. I had one (okay, five ) last hurrahs in December, and four of them are still awaiting reshipping.

^^^A lot a beautiful firsts!

I got my first H scarf (Balade en Berline) in 2015 - visited the Wall St. boutique and DH picked out the color (which I later decided I wasn’t crazy about). It was seldom worn. It’s grown on me since, and gets out of the box occasionally.

Then my first visit to the mothership at FSH during 2017, and I selected 2 scarves (NOW my interest was piqued). Archive photo of Space Shopping:

Then it hits the fan in Fall 2018. All of a sudden I’m chasing my “must haves”.
First h.com purchase (photo from SOTD - Acte III):

First purchases from an outside seller (Samourais and Sieste)

First 70cm (and first from EBay) Minuit au Faubourg:

First scarf from SS2019 collection, which was the first time I waited too see what H was coming out with. My Christmas present to me! I love the colors in this CW of Pivoines. The red is incredibly vibrant against the medium blue. My knot tying skills leave much to be desired, but there are so many ways to showcase different parts.

2019 will be a slower year for scarves- at least that’s what my wallet says. (Wallet doesn’t know about the 3 scarves coming soon)
