My DM has always been a scarf lover and I’ve built up my collex by borrowing (indefinitely) from her and inheriting a lot of her scarves. On our trips to Paris when I was a teen, she offered to buy a scarf at the Hermès store, but I declined and chose perfume instead. The first two that she ever gave me to keep from her stash were Eperons d’Or and Pierres d’Orient et Occident.

The first that she actually purchased for me as a gift was Reves d’Australie because she said the design looked “anthropological” and she thought I would like that.

The first H scarf I actually purchased for myself was in an H boutique while on vacation to Spain. Since the subject of Les Jardins d’Andalousie is the gardens of the Alhambra, I decided that this would be the perfect souvenir from my trip. I actually put it away and didn’t intend to wear it, but contemplated on framing it instead. The designer is Aline Honore and little did I know then that her designs would become coveted Grails in the future for me and that I would own some of them in multiples.

The first scarf that DH gave me as a gift was Azulejos for a wedding anniversary a few years after that trip to Spain when noticing that I had a few H scarves and was beginning to actually like and wear them on occasion. It reminded him of the ceramic tiles we saw in the Plaza de Sevilla in Andalusia, Spain.
