For these 2 styles, any chance of me scoring either one in London?

I'd like one in BDP or Vert Veronese or prune or rouge H.

Any stores that have more stock?

Thank you!!!!

Hi baileylab - Birkins I d say absolutely not. There is the rare occasional one, if you walk in and ask in a concession (harrods or selfridges), but then, will it be what you want, the size you want etc...? I do not know why London is so bad for Birkins, maybe because it s too close to Paris!

The London H policies, based on what has been posted on this Forum, are unique--There is (at least, the last I read there was) an actual "list" opened twice a year by the various boutiques during which clients can request the Birkins that are expected to join the inventory of that store. These are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis; clients literally line up to check what's available and put in their request. Although occasionally a Birkin is reported on the shelf, this is apparently extremely rare. Do any of our UK members want to chime in with more details?

Thanks MindiB. Hmm i think i'll spend more time outside london and venture into Lille france or brussels and try my luck there. another excuse for the family to go off the beaten path (even if it's not hehe).

ITA, at least in my experience this is how it works in London. As far as birkins are concerned at least. If you manage to get one from the back room it's probably because the person it was earmarked for turned it down.

Don't be... There is loads of things to see in London and the inventory is usually quite good at H for non Birkins! And there are loads of other gorgeous shops for you to visit!

I have never bought one in london. I thought that it works like this: the shop places orders for what they think will sell (or on the basis of what clients have indicated they will want to buy). Then they take the details of preferences from clients. When the bags arrive, they call clients in to take the bags.
However, as I never put this to the test, please can someone who has picked up London orders confirm?

As far as I know, the way it works is that twice a year the list is opened and customers get to put in their "wish" from what their SAs tell them will be available. The list is basically the list of names with the wish bag next to it. These are for podium orders only, special orders are separate. The customers typically all come at the same time to place their wishes, although if you're lucky and have a good SA she may take your wish slightly ahead of the official opening.
As the bags start arriving (usually no earlier than 9 months later if everything goes well) the SAs bring out the list and allocate the bag to the first lady who wished for that combo and so on down the list.
Like I said this is as far as I know, and how I placed my order for my 2011 bag. It could have changed with the recent economical situation, I don't know.

hope somebody turns down a BA or BDP SB2!

i'm already feeling exasperated. and to think i was excited to go to London.....

all this for a bag?!!!! :lecture::noggin:
Oh, gosh, don't let H make you less excited about London! It is a FANTASTIC city and there are such amazing historical sites, parks, shows, museums, delightful shops and great restaurants--(Can you tell I love London?)! :p

Baily:

My experience with the "List" is that the store pre-orders bags (specifically birkins and kellys) and two times a year, it opens on a first-come-first-serve basis. One requests the bag one would like, and hopefully it would have been on the order placed by the store. This is the experience for those who are not VIPs or have established relationships with SAs.

There are so many more interesting things about London than H. Come for Liberty, Marylebone High Street, Harvey Nicks. Come for Tate Modern, Bankside, Borough Market, and a fabulous gastropub lunch. Come for Westborne Grove, Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. London is a fabulous city with an infectious vibe. It is a city of villages, each with their own character. Come to enjoy it (and hopefully a tPF meet!)!
