I have a Panda hammock from Suna Fujita and a new insect wallet, and I have mixed feelings. I LOVE the leather, personally for me it feels like real honest to god leather with great feel and smell, but... Well, it does show creases easily, though the first ones you get will probably be the last ones. The hammock doesn't show any more signs after 6 months than it did on the first use. And I actually like having leather that, well, looks like leather, with creases, small imperfections. So I'm not against, but I would never get a Puzzle in that leather, and would in most cases go with their classic calfskin, though it does come with its own issues:-)

Thank you! Can you tell my why you wouldn’t get a Puzzle in that leather? I ordered the older style in satin leather with the jacquard strap and I’m trying to figure out if it will really look bad as it ages or just lived in. I don’t really care about a slouch, but I don’t want it to look old and haggard in a couple years. I want to be able to use it daily and it to handle some rain.

Sorry my comment posted twice and I can’t figure out how to delete this one 🙃

It does actually slouch as far as I could see in the boutique  But for me this is the kind of leather that might actually show a lot of creases, and definitely will get scratched easily just by sitting on your lap. I swear, I took a hammock out the first time, it was crossbody all the time, never touched any surface and it developed long lines and creases on the bottom.Okay, after that nothing, but I also only use that special bag maybe once in a few months. Puzzle for me is for everyday use. I really cannot guess how badly it might look after 6 months of everyday use. I'm not saying it will, just that it might, and so I'd buy a special bag made of satin leather, sure, I like the leather in general, but never an everyday bag.

I am truly not a fan of the satin calfskin because of the way it creases though it doesn’t add that many creases after the initial batch. In terms of suppleness I feel satin calfskin is the “worst” of Loewe’s leathers and honestly I do prefer the buttery suppleness of their usual calfskin. We have a couple of items in satin calfskin (the monochrome orange small puzzle and the Howl’s small hammock) but I’ve since avoided acquiring any additional items in this leather.

In terms of scratching I don’t really feel it’s significantly more or less than the other items we have - and like most of Loewe’s items they do stand up to usage well and doesn’t look very weathered even after fair use. Rain is definitely not an issue. We live in Singapore and our items regularly end up caught in drizzles or even rain with zero issues though I’ve never had anything exposed to heavy downpours.

Thank you for the pic and input!

Thank you! Most of my other bags are very structured, so I think suppleness is not my number one priority. Just longevity. I don’t think I mind some creases, but I don’t want it to look old and ancient right away. I appreciate your input on the scratches; they are what I’m most worried about. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to see any in store myself, and my purse is set to arrive next week, so I guess I’ll evaluate what I think of it then. Just wish I could see some pictures of the satin leather after it’s been used a lot for over a year. I saw someone on YouTube that had been using it a couple months and it still looked really good, but she also recommended against the satin leather. Sucks that I’m finally able to get the bag I’ve been thinking about for a couple years now, and the only ones in the older style are in the satin leather or a lot more expensive.

If I had a choice I’d probably go with the classic calfskin. I don’t exactly mind the satin calfskin as I have the blueberry small calcifer puzzle and there is some wrinkling/creasing but it still looks pretty good. I don’t use it often and I’ve dropped it a few times and it still looks good, no major scratching and even if there is - it kind of blends in with the bag.

I will say, I have a mini puzzle in rust satin calfskin that’s been kept in the box and never used, but it is developing creasing. So, regardless if you use the bag or not I would say it is still prone to developing creases/softening over time.
