Sarah Wallet (button closure)

Hello! I just joined this site today in the hopes that someone may have a suggestion for cleaning this gross button closure on my Sarah wallet. I’ve tried a few leather products and baby wipes but they only seemed to make it worse. Have scoured YouTube with no luck. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

I’m pretty sure you can get it replaced. I saw somewhere here on the forum that someone had the button replaced and decided to get the plain gold one because they didn’t want to deal with it getting dirty.

Thats a really good idea! Any idea how you start the process? Do I just go to an LV store? Ideally, I’d like to find a way to clean it but that’s a good Plan B.

Those are hard to clean and maintain unfortunately, it just rubs off the more you touch it. Its better if you get it serviced if you want it to be clean and perfect, in my opinion.

What about using a little bit of dish liquid and water --soak a rag and gently press on and around it. I wouldn't rub it though.

I suggest getting it replaced. These are stains from opening and touching the wallet, mainly grease and chemicals from our hands. It's hard to come off. I have a Rose Ballerine Victorine, and I replaced the button closure, less headache.

Once it’s been replaced with a new one, I’d recommend a coating of clear nail polish over the top. I’ve done this on my Rose ballerine button, it prevents dirt and scuffs and keeps it looking new.

Just take it to the LV Store and have them take a look at it.
