Hey Ladies, upon opening and scrutinizing my new pink ruby saffiano mini Christie, I noticed that the back panel of leather is a shade darker than the rest of the bag's leather. I took it back to Macy's but they had already sold the last one and it is no longer available. I was told by an SA that this was not unusual when pieces of leather, especially saffiano leather, are stitched together. Thoughts?

It is not unusual at all. It is because of the way that hides are cut during and after the tanning process. Most bags made today are not made from the hide of the same animal. A bag is likely going to be made from the hides of multiple animals. As a result, the hide may not accept the dye the same way, or they may be part of different dye lots. It's not a defect in the bag, but a result of today's mass manufacturing processes.

Thanks for this information. So it's nothing to be bothered about I suppose?

I'm particular but if this is the way it is, I suppose most lighter colors will have this issue?
