Hi all. I am getting ready to buy my first Hamilton. What are your thoughts on the Saffiano leather vs. regular leather? I've done a little research and what I have read is that Saffiano is more durable but has more of a plastic look and regular leather tends to slouch where as Saffiano doesn't. I don't know if I want the slouch look or not. For those who have had your Hamilton for awhile, how has the leather worn over time? I don't know which one to buy and I am getting frustrated. What are the differences? Please help!

I have the regular leather hamilton and its pretty slouchy. I dont like it, Id much rather a stiffer bag that keeps its shape. Its easier to find things in your bag when its not all slouched into itself. Just my opinion though, drives me crazy lol!

That sounds like it would be aggravating. I've read posts where people love the slouch. I'm not sure that I would, especially if it makes it hard to find things. That's good to know. Thanks!

Which size Hamilton n/s or e/w are you looking to buy?

I like saffiano in the smaller e/w satchel version
I like regular leather in the n/s tote version

I like the smaller e/w one to stand up straight and the structure gives it more room I feel.
I like the larger n/s to get relaxed and slouch it has plenty of room. I do not find it too hard to find my things.

I have to say I wish their was an in between. The slouchy slouches SO much. It lies completely flat and puddles. The saffiano in the larger is beautiful but very structured and quite large.

Definitely N/S. I need the large one. I love slouchy bags but I'm not sure that I would like this style to be slouchy. So with your experience, does would the Saffiano leather keep its shape and refrain from slouching over time?

I have several N/S Saffiano Leather Hamiltons...the green one that I use at least 1 or 2 days a month for at least a year with no slouchness...the 1 soft leather Hamilton which I used maybe 10 times if that was just a puddle of leather it became so slouchy that I gave it away...so if you are looking for structure definitely check out the saffiano leather...and not all of them look plastic....good luck with your decision...and I hope you love whichever bag you choose...

I have a slouchy N/S Hamilton, and at first I really hated the slouch. Now after almost three years, it doesn't really bother me anymore. I have a pretty large makeup bag in it most of the time, and that helps to minimize the slouch a little bit. If I ever get another Hamilton, I think that I would go with the saffiano leather. I think that the really bright colored saffiano can sometimes come across as a little bit plasticy looking, but I don't see that with the black ones or other dark colors.

I just bought a navy Selma and I've seen pics online of dented Selma's... Not sure if they were fake but does anyone have anything to comment on possible denting? What if I accidentally walk into a chair or something .. Do you think there's a way to get the dent out?

I have both sizes of the saffiano leather hamiltons and love them both, they wear well, dont look like plastic at all to me. I fit alot into both sizes. When I store them I lie them flat with the lock on the top so they dont get into bad shape.

The original slouchy leather is more laid back and casual and the Saff more dressy to me ... I have one of each in my Hamiltons and love them both just the same ... With the two different types of leather it's like having 2 totally different bags :)
