Hi coachies! I bought a saffiano city tote from the factory/outlet website in June 2014. I recently noticed that there is a rip in the leather along the top where the flap of leather for the zipper attached to the bag (pictures attached). The bag is still functional and the rip is not very obvious so I'm not exactly sure when it happened.

My questions are, is this a repair that Coach will make since I've had the bag for less than a year? Also, since I believe that this is a non-MFF bag that I bought on the outlet site should I take it to the outlet or the boutique for repair? Fortunately I have several locations of each nearby that I could take it to.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Update: I took my bag to the Leesburg outlet and it was pretty straightforward. The SA didn't look at my receipt when I presented it which I thought was odd because I thought she'd want to make sure I was within the 1 year time period. Perhaps she recognized the bag as being from less than a year ago, or maybe she was able to look up the receipt when she keyed in the date code.

I had to pay $20 for the shipping and I was told that I should hear back in about a month. She mentioned that the bag may not be able to be repaired and if that is the case they would send me a new one or a gift card for what I paid.

I will continue to update this thread in case this information helps anyone else.

I wonder how strict they are about the one year policy. Maybe you just have to be in the ballpark. They can tell when the bag was made but without your receipt they wouldn't know when it was sold.

I would like to know if they fix it and how they do it, so please report back.

Yeah, I thought it was odd that she didn't check my receipt. I will definitely update this thread once I hear back from them.

Update: My bag arrived today unexpectedly and they were not able to repair it. I never received a call letting me know that they received it or that they wouldn't be able to fix it, but it's not that big of a deal to me. My bag was nicely wrapped in tissue paper accompanied by a hand-signed letter telling me that the craftsmen determined that my bag couldn't be fixed.

Also included in the letter was an offer from Coach for my troubles- 40% off on a future Coach purchase. I think that's a very generous offer considering that I only paid $129 for the bag and it's still in usable condition (for now).

I'm disappointed that my bag couldn't be fixed but I have to admit that I'm very pleased with how Coach handled this situation. Coach isn't my go-to brand anymore but they've definitely earned my respect and I will happily buy from them again.
