Saddle Soap and Leather Conditioner the same?

Trying to moisturize this leather to get it back feeling smooth, not sure if it's possible but figured I'd try before replacing the handles. Is saddle soap and leather conditioner the same? This is the handle area I'm trying to revive.

I know this is an old post but no, saddle soap and conditioner are not the same thing. SS is for cleaning and can also be a bit drying to the leather. I recommend conditioning that strap first, then you can use the SS, but know that neither application will make cracks in leather go away.
