Hi there
I don’t know if there’s a thread addressing this bag. But to be honest I have a small handbag collection because the bags that I like work for me. Basically I have four Hermes Evelynes and a vintage classic flap Chanel bag. The other bag that I believe that will work for my lifestyle is the Goyard sac Hardy. Does anybody on one and recommend it? Pros and cons. I am considering the red color. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have one but I'm eyeing it for my next bag. For me the pros are the size, the shoulder length straps, and the zip closure. I also like that it's less structured than my Goyard Marquises. Potential cons are that there's no interior pocket if I want to quickly find my cell phone or keys, but that's an easily remedied with a bag insert, and it does come with a pouch like the Saint Louis has.

After separating from long term love LV in 2016, I had a brief and furious affair with Goyard. The union yielded an Artois and a Sac Hardy. I shared my thoughts on the Artois a year or so ago. Here are some quick thoughts and visuals for those of you considering the Sac Hardy. Please keep in mind this is the older version with the cat perforation.

On my frame, it looks rather humongous but the aesthetics don’t concern me that much. It’s supposed to function as a small pet carrier or a tote that holds a least a day’s worth of essentials and non-essentials. And yes, sometimes it gets mistakenly identified as a reusable shopping bag.

As previously mentioned, the bag holds a lot! You can choose to use the base insert (shown in yellow) for more structure or forgo the base insert for that smooshy look when carried against the body.

Be warned - if you load up the bag, the weight can cause the handles to bite into your shoulder. And since the handle drop is approximately 7 inches this doesn’t leave too much room for a comfortable carry.

The lack of an interior pocket doesn’t bother me. The bag did come with a pouch that I don’t use. You can use an organizer. Or you can use fabric/Velcro tape on one of those many pouches accumulated over the years as gifts with cosmetics purchase to stick to the side of the bag.

Looks to me like a good and hardy kind of bag.

The bag has held up over the years, through travel, humid summer heat, spring showers, and winter snow. In fact, the canvas has softened more and molds to the body. The leather straps have become very pliable with only minor cracking. And the double zippers run as smoothly as they had in 2016.

These days I don’t use the Sac Hardy as much since it is a larger sized bag and I’m carrying less, and carrying it on with H. It’s in hibernation. But I recommend this bag and wouldn’t dream of rehoming it.

OMG ! thank you for your detailed and amazing review. I think you’ve pretty much answered every question that one can be wondering about. For some reason this bag comes to mind every now and then and for some reason I always think about it. So I think I want to pull the trigger and purchase it. But I wanna get the red color cause I don’t have a red bag .

Thank you, sf_newyorker, for this amazing review! This is the best write up I have read on the Sac Hardy. I’m the same height as you so super helpful to see mod shots as well. And great to know that it doesn’t have the same wear issues with the St. Louis. I have the Artois PM and it’s holding up well. I love a good tote and this bag has been on my wish list for a while. Time to take the plunge. Thanks again!!
