SA lying to me regarding men's scarf tie?

Hey everyone,

I've had my eyes on this for a while:

I'd just buy it online, but I want to try it on first. The South Coast Plaza store was sold out. I later went to the Rodeo Drive store and was told that they discontinued them company-wide because the color bleeds.

Really? Does that happen to a company with a decades-long reputation for its silks? This was last month and not only does the website still carry the product, they've even updated information about them!

Was the Rodeo SA just embarrassed to say that they were sold out? Should I just take the risk and buy it? I know I could return it if it bled, but I don't want to risk the color seeping into whatever shirt I wear it with.

Any advice/experience would be much appreciated.

My eyeballs zoomed in on the scarf tie as I perused the catalog. I love the versatility, a new twist, if you will, on a staple. If you can't get it outta mind, then order one. If there is a problem, take it back. (You may regret waiting -- you snooze, you lose will have to be countered with well, wasn't meant to be for me.)

Hi Mike,

H is never embarrassed to say they're sold out of something -- they're usually quite proud, as it shows how popular their items are! Given that these ties were featured so prominently in the website, the latest tie catalog, and the latest Monde, I'd be surprised there'd be a problem like that.

I love the concept of the tie, but my only concern is how well it would still look as a tie after you've used it as a scarf several times. That's the only thing that's kept me from picking one up. If you DO get it, please let me know how it holds up during the winter.
