Nizam of Hyderabad

The Net Worth of Nizam's Jewels would be would be 210.8 Billion USD today. The most famous Nizam is Mir Osaman Ali Khan who is famous for his idiosyncrasies and wealth. He owned world’s grandiose treasures but lived like a pauper, smoke cheap bidhis, and wear tattered clothes.

His collection of pearls alone could fill up an Olympic size swimming pool. He gained the famous Jacob Diamond the 400 carat diamond ( double the size of the Kohinoor and world’s fifth largest, The Jacob Diamond was later purchased by the Government of India in 1995 after a battle of 24 years with the Nizam’s trust for an estimated $13 million along with other Jewels of The Nizams, and is held at the Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai. The value of Jacob Diamond alone is 100 million pounds. The seventh and last Nizam found the duck-egg-sized diamond hidden in his father’s slippers and used it as a paperweight. He owned the best collection of Emeralds so beautiful that no jewelers could set it in jewelry .In the Nizam's collection you can see there are 173 jewels, which includes over 25 thousand diamonds, weighing over 12,000 carats (2.4 kg). There are also 2000 emeralds some of them Colombian which weigh over 10,000 carats (2.0 kg), and pearls exceeding 40 thousand chows. The collection includes gemstones, turban ornaments, necklaces and pendants, belts and buckles, earrings, armbands, bangles and bracelets, anklets, cufflinks and buttons, watch chains, and rings, toe rings, and nose rings. Among them is the seven stringed Basra pearl necklace, known as Satlada, which has 465 pearls embedded in it. Now his collection is owned by The Government of India and is declared as a national treasure
^everything about that story is surprising.

Though the color of the Basra pearls in the necklace appear to be light pink , In the you tube video of the Nizam's jewelry ,It shows that the pearls in the Satlada Necklace are actually white in color. This is more in conformity with the natural color of Basra pearls which is mostly white though other colors such as light pink, cream, yellow and golden also sometimes occur. The diamonds however are perfect Golconda Diamonds
^thanks for the info. must have been the picture that makes everything look peach/pink.
