Both companies make great watches that will last a lifetime. If going for a Tank, I would go for the classic which is the "Louis Cartier Tank." I believe the one in your photos is the flatter cased Tank Solo.
If you are really tough on watches I'd probably tell you to go with the Rolex, as its a more rugged case, has greater water resistance, and its on a bracelet so you won't have to replace straps every 3 years or so.
If you want a more rugged Cartier on a bracelet perhaps you should consider the Tank Francaise.

Rolex is considered to be the real watch company when Cartier is more like a jewelry company tat makes watches too. The mechanism of Rolex watches is made by Rolex only when Cartier purchases the mechanisms.
I have both Cartier BB and Rolex watches but I prefer Rolex because it has a date, it is very useful.

Is that the 31mm Rolex? I am contemplating the same model and dial but with the fluted bezel. I love the champagne face with gold Roman numeral markers!
