Hey everyone

I'm a long-time lurker but in need of a bit of advice! I'm based in the UK and looking to purchase my very first Rolex to commemorate my University graduation :yahoo:

I've been doing a bit (read: a lot) of research. For an SS mid-size datejust with SS bezel and jubilee bracelet, the best price I can find here in England, at an authorised dealer, is around the £2800 mark. At the current exchange rate, this works out just shy of $4100. Would anyone be so kind as to advise whether I could perhaps get a better deal in America? I'm coming to Florida in September and if I can make a significant saving it might be worth my while to wait until then...

Many kind thanks!

I have to say I am somewhat surprised to hear this... I've been coming to America almost every year for the last decade and things always used to work out so much less over there than here back home. I should have known things were going down hill 3 years ago when I came and Louis Vuitton was almost twice the price - and that was pre tax! Alas, the exceptionally low exchange rate of late doesn't help any.

Thanks for your speedy replies ladies!

Chessmont: How did you get 20% off retail? What store did you buy from? Was the watch one that was already in the inventory or something they needed to order. I'm asking because I may be in the market for a rolex soon (if I can convince hubby..20% off would make a big difference). Thanks for any info!

That's actually a great price. I got mine when I went back to Taiwan (last year) from an authorized Rolex dealer. Price was about $4900 USD. I got the 31mm datejust with copper pink face, white gold fluted bezel, and stainless steel jubilee bracelet. I remembered comparing prices to US stores and I think I saved a few hundred since I don't have to pay tax.

I was astonished - it was an order, not in inventory! The new 36 mm, SS with diamond bezel and flower dial in pink. It is an authorized dealer, and I have bought 6 or so watches from them in the past, but literally not in at least 5 years. I think the economy must have something to do with it. This is in Northern California.

Hey, it can't hurt to ask at the AD(s) in your area for a discount on a watch you are interested in. Sales might be down there, too. Just ask, "what price can you give me on that watch?" walk out if you don't like it. You can always try a few stores and buy somewhere else if no one will discount. But I have always gotten at least 12% or 15% in past years.
