Hi TPF members,

This is my first time to post a question.... Need your help please..... As a reward to myself, I'm looking to get a classic watch for daily use. Ideally, should match with casual or work clothes, and my jewelries (wedding & engagement ring in white gold & diamonds). I know that I want a Rolex Datejust Men's Watch in Steel with Oyster Bracelet (116200) with Roman Dial. What I need help on is deciding on the color ----- silver face or salmon/pink face? I like the silver since it seems to go well with everything. But, I also like the salmon/pink face since its quite unique. However, not sure if it will go with almost everything.

Facts about me which may help in your comments: I'm not a girly girl...more on the girl-next-door/tomboy/active type. My usual outfit is either jeans, slacks, pointed shoes with streamlined blouses. No skirts for me. I prefer dresses on extra special occasions, but usually I'm in pants. I'm 5'6 and about 170 lbs, oriental features but with tan skin tone. In bags, I like classic, elegant and understated: Prada Vitello, Balenciaga Covered Work, LV in Epi Leather. Colors I wear are usually: blacks, browns, grays, blues, wine reds.

Hope the experts on TPF can help. Please, please, please. Thanks in advance!

YES ! This question really speaks to me because I was going through the same debate. I really loved the salmon face, but the rodium face seemed so much more practical. I'm kind of girly, but not afraid to kick it into tomboy mode and everyone encouraged me to go with the salmon face - my mom and the SA were the only ones rooting for rodium.

I think overall, it is a question of whether you want a classic piece (rodium) or something that is really in the moment (salmon). You can always get the dial exchanged at Rolex as well.

..I ended up not getting a datejust at all though. :graucho: I got the no date submariner instead !

I would get silver because with the salmon dial, you may get tired of it later...who knows! Plus, it is hard to match stuff. If you are wearing a red shirt & wear the salmon dial watch, it just look off. I think silver will match everything & yet looks so sleek. But it doesn't stand out though. If you want a rolex to stand out, then, don't get silver dial. I wouldn't recommend Rhodium because it's darker than silver....people said it can be hard to tell time. Like the markers won't pop out as easily & you have to look closely before you can see the time. I think silver will have enough contrast though. Let us know which one you will pick. :)

Thanks sooo much Ayla & Happy Angel for your response. I really appreciate it. :tender: Will definitely consider your inputs in the decision making. Meanwhile..... I'm still torn after having tried out both!!!:lawl::nuts::lawl: Will definitely let you know once I've made up my mind.

I like the salmon, and to me it is a neutral. I like the vintage look, as many older watches (of various brands) have salmon dials. It too is a classic color, IMO.
