Hello!

I was wondering if any fellow Canadian boardies could share their Rolex stories - where did you get your watch ? Did you shop outside Canada to find a better deal ?

I am looking to get something in the near future, I've been looking at Royal De Versailles and Le Difference in Toronto and I was wondering if there is anywhere else I should be aware of when shopping - both in store and online !

Thank you ! :3

I haven't personally bought mine since it was a gift, but I know my mother both of hers (and gave one to me) in HK. I don't know if it was less expensive, but my mother finds that the selection of luxury goods is generally better overseas.

I remember browsing them when I was in Switzerland a few years ago and it was cheaper there, especially when you factored in the VAT refund. I don't know if hte savings would cancel out if you declare it at full value when coming back through customs though. Might be worth considering if you're making a trip there.

If you find a model you like, perhaps try calling the Rolex dealers in Canada and see who can give you the best price. Montecristo, Palladio and Brinkaus are the 3 authorized dealers where I am (Vancouver) and I've had good srevice when I've gone in, and they may be willing to ship. Since you're out of province, you may be able to save on PST and just pay shipping which should be worth the difference on a Rolex.

Oh thank you for the advice - I will definitely give those stores a ring ! I should have thought of that, no PST would make a BIG difference ! :wtf::wtf:

I bought mine at Royal De Versailles. It was a random event. I walked in and came out with a watch. I didn't even shop around...So I was probably screwed. But they gave me a "discount".

I've seen some "left over" watches at La Swiss at Yorkdale. Apparently they aren't licensed to sell Rolex anymore or something...

Royal de Versailles seems to keep a good selection of Rolex watches in stock. They do give discounts and will work with you on the price (within reason). I have purchased many watches from Irene and have had a good experience each time.
I do think that if you buy from Vancouver, you will still be required to pay our GST once it is brought into Ontario. Another thought.... if service is ever needed on the watch, it may be more convenient to deal locally.

La Swiss was selling grey market Rolex, which was why they lost their license. :s

Thank you for your thoughts !

My suggestion above was to save the PST, not GST (you still have to pay GST no matter where you buy from in Canada).
LMK if I can help at all since I'm in Vancouver... I honestly don't think it would affect service. For most things, Rolex will send it into the Toronto centre anyway so it doesn't matter.

Like I said in my original reply, none of the Rolexes in our household were purchased in Canada and there's never been any issues with service.

Whoops! I did mean to say PST. I believe this to be a mandatory adjustment once goods enter a different province. Once working out the sales tax difference, adding in shipping with insurance, (or a plane ticket) and the convenience of shopping in your own neighbourhood, I myself would just rather deal locally.

What makes dealing in Toronto perhaps more convenient is the chance to look at, try on, and compare different designs in person. R de V usually has a large selection and carries many other luxury brands to compare in case you think there may be something else you like! :graucho:

I know that this message was in relation to Canada, but I got my Rolex in St. Thomas. I found that the prices were more reasonable b/c there weren't taxes. I don't know if this helps, but maybe you could find a good deal with one of these sellers.
