I can't decide!

I know that i want steel smooth bezel white face with the sticks marking the numbers.

Here's the deal. I have skinny wrists, but I've got pretty big hands and I'm 5'9 so a big watch isn't a crazy idea.

I've tried both sizes on and both look fine so it's a harder decision. I have an old Tag that's 29mm and I'm worried that the 31mm will look too similar. But then, I worry that the 34" is going to look too big. I like the big watch look but then I don't want to look like I'm wearing my husband's watch-ha! I have a big Hamilton (37mm) but it's on a leather strap and I think that lessens the visual size a little.

So, are there TPFers who have both? or tried on one then the other and decided one way or another?

Oh, and this is funny enough that I have to tell you--the SA actually told me "when you're 70 you're probably not going to want as big and heavy a watch as that 34mm. . ."

Seriously. I'm 47 years old--I should decide what watch to buy on what I might want to wear in 23 years? Ha!! But, at the same time, is the oversized watch thing a trend and will i in five years look like I'm wearing my dad's watch if I go for the bigger size?

I'm attaching two modeling photos (I didn't have the presence of mind to do it in the store--plus even to wear them loose they'll need links taken out so it was really hard to get the "feel" of them) one of the TAG which is about 29mm across and the Hamilton Crono I wear that's 37mm to give you an idea about my size.

so whaddya recommend? 31 or 34? (So much angst over 3mm! I am insane!) :p

Thanks in advance
Melissa

The smooth bezel is the slightly more casual watch, so bigger makes sense. For a dress watch you might want dainty, but not for every day. After seeing the 29 and 37 on you I'm going to vote for the 34 - you're tall and you'll absolutely be able to carry it off without looking like you've borrowed :)

I have a SS/Yellow gold Datejust 31 and absolutely happy with it, while my DH has a SS Datejust 34 and it is huge on me and extremely heavy and I will have to remove most of the links if I decide to wear it.
For reference, I am 2 inches shorter than OP and my rists are not very skinny. Will try to post pics to compare when my DH gets back from work.

Here are pics of mine for now:

You guys are all da' bomb for coming to my rescue to help me make a decision. (Gee, I'll need to start posting to tpf before I do anything from now on-hahaha!!)

I believe I have decided to go with the 34mm (enough of you said that the 37mm above looks good and if it's okay, surely a 34 will work.

Now I've just gotta decide between white face and black face (leaning toward white because I can wear it casual and somewhat dressy whereas I think the black is more casual) but I like both. . .and since I'm going big the black is a bit more chunky funky--which is cool.

Oh, yeah, and after I make that decision I just gotta save a little more money--hehehe. . .

Here's a couple photos (not necessarily where I'd buy them from but easy photos to snatch.
