Hello everyone, was hoping for some advice please? So I am new to Rolex and luxury watches in general. I’ve had my eye on the OP 34 with either the pink dial or the silver dial, still not completely sure yet so will wait a while and see how I feel but I was just wondering how difficult it is for someone to get a new one of these from an AD? All I’m reading online is that it is incredibly difficult if you have no purchase history and no established relationship with your AD. I don’t mind being on a waiting list for say up to a year max but I wouldn’t really like to wait any longer than that. I would really like to buy new and not preowned. Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated. Excited to start my Rolex journey but not feeling very confident at the moment!

It’s been my experience that getting these types of models is much easier than the larger, sportier/ceramic bezel type watches (Daytonas, Submariners, etc.) and some of those require types of prespend. The RolexForum will always have people saying OPs are difficult to get because of the lower price point. Like shopping at Hermes, the relationship with you SA is important.

In September, I asked for a DJ 31 with a pink dial/fluted/jublilee and got it within a month. I asked various ADs (I live in a city with multiple ADs), but the one I hit it off with the best came through with the watch. That was my first purchase at this AD, prior to that, I had purchased a Rolex with an AD in another city years ago and all my others were on 3rd party sites.

In December, I asked this SA for an OP 34 with a smooth bezel and was open to dial color. I got a pink dial OP 34 within 2 months.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Hi! Happy to share my experience. I've been on a waitlist for a DJ 36 (fluted bezel, oyster bracelet, black dial) since last July. Initially I was told it'd likely come in within 6 months. I have no purchase history with this AD, but he knows I'm very motivated and not messing around, LOL. Since July, he's offered me three watches but they weren't exactly what I wanted (white & blue dial instead of black, jubilee instead of oyster). He says the DJs are harder to come by right now. I'm not sure if that's different for OPs, but I imagine it is - popular size, lower price point, etc. Personally I decided NOT to add my name at various ADs and am sticking with this one, but I know some people have done that to increase their chances. Good luck!

I would caution you to look beyond what is pretty and think about telling the time with your watch. I have a pink (salmon) dial and with the silver hands, it's hard to tell the time. My new - much less expensive - watch is white dial and so much easier to read.

Thank you so much for sharing all your experiences, I really appreciate it! 🙂

Wow that’s so great! Lovely to hear a positive experience like this!

Hopefully your AD will come through with your chosen watch soon! The DJs are lovely. There is only one AD that is really local to me, so I am hoping I can build a relationship with them.

That’s useful to know. Thank you!
