Can you tell me what is different between the three generations of Rogue? I assume there is three. People have been saying the leather is thinner and not as nice in the latest generation. Do you think that is true?

I’m no expert but this is my opinion:

1st Generation: These were the ultimate Rogues, the leather on the handles and zipper portion were textured, there was a working lock and key. The zipper pulls were substantial. The leather was thick. This made the bag I think the heaviest of all generations. There were limited colors though.

2nd Generation: The leather on the handles and zipper portion were changed to smooth leather, zipper pulls were different and the lock and key were removed but the keyhood was still part of the bag. There were more colors added.

IMO, towards the end of this 2nd generation run, the handles started to feel thinner and lighter in some colors, the leather seemed thinner too.

3rd Generation: The keyhood was no longer part of the bag and the leather strip on the bottom connecting the feet was also removed. I do believe the leather was not as thick.

Basically, if you compare generation to generation, you may notice the leather differences BUT regardless of the generations, I still think all the Rogues are great! Again, this is all my opinion :amuse:

Good job of explaining!

I believe the hardware varied based on the colors, but there were brass hardware 1st gens. Another thing worth noting there were edgepaint issues with some of the 1st generation ones. I've seen some beautiful mineral color Rogues for sale secondhand, and they all seem to have cracking in the corners.
