rivet missing/broken/fell off

I called NY and they told me that they will NOT repair the bag unless i can give them a receipt or have the place from which i bought it send it to them. So then, I contacted the woman from whom I bought it (on eBay but I went to her house to get it as she is local to me) and she said that she would have the person who she got it from in NY try to do something about it but have now not heard back again. I am so upset! I can't believe that I cannot get my very expensive bag repaired and that the company will not stand by their product even though I told them that I had no problem paying for the repair. (I also told them that I got it from my cousin who regifted it)
