My question is what are the risks if I upload photos of the store receipts of my luxe items (with my address removed, despite not living at the address anymore) to Instagram/Meta support in order to get my suspended account back? Of course on their official support pages. But who knows who they hire to look at these things... I'm based in the EU if that makes a difference.

Story behind it: my public Instagram account of 1.5 years with close to 8K followers was recently suspended. I appealed and through the automated replies I realized I must have been suspended because IG (or someone/some company reporting me) thought I was promoting or selling fakes. A few months ago one of my posts with Goyard bags was reported and removed because there is this company working for the brands to track down counterfeit sellers and they probably thought from the 3 St Louis bags I showed that they were fakes and I was selling them (I was not  plus again, all authentic). I didn't appeal back then because I would have had to provide my real name and it was only 1 post. Not worth it to me.

I posted my luxe items, travels (never in real-time), food etc. and never had the intention to sell any of my items. Some people who don't read my profile or captions or don't speak English would still mistake my account for a shop and ask for prices (which I always replied with "I'm not a seller", and that was it for me). Of course all my items are authentic. I never showed myself, worn outfits, my current location etc. out of security/anonymity reasons etc so I do understand that my profile could look like a shop at first glance.

I made a backup account and discussed with other IGers who had the same happen to them (also sharing luxe items). Some appealed (with text explanation why they didn't violate IG's terms), some sent their IDs, some sent receipts of their luxe receipts to proof everything is authentic. Everyone has different experiences as IG never specifies the problem. Some got their accounts back, some didn't. So there is no guarantee I will get it back even if I upload the receipts (IG never asked for it, they simply don't react to around 5-10 appeals I already sent).

What would you do? So far the suspended account was just for fun (not commercial), but I did have the intention of getting more followers and then thinking about monetizing the reach at some point (certainly not for anything illegal such as selling counterfeits). Also, I still have all my content on my phone (pics, videos/reels), minus the comments. It was kind of like a diary to me and would sum up my travel experiences in short videos.

I'm aware of people's home's getting broken into for luxe in recent times, so I'm contemplating the risks of uploading the receipts or my ID. So far IG/Meta apparently thinks I have fakes (and I already provided them my real name in the appeal form this time, in case they want to see an ID... of which I am not even sure I would send it to them). And they certainly have my GPS data, probably everything about me. Maybe I should just leave it at that, create an entirely new account and go private just to continue chatting with the friends I made on IG. So yeah, any input highly appreciated.

And thank you to anyone who read the entire thing... it's a shallow "problem" after all. I "only' put a lot of time into creating content (a few reels got 100-200K views each), but it's not as severe as for people who sell or promote things on IG for a living...

Sorry to the Mods if this is the wrong subforum. I saw threads related to burglary here and though the question is mostly linked to that topic... feel free to move it.

The problem is not solved with receipts. You should (1) ask the grounds for suspension and (2) make a case that if it involved your luxe goods, these were personal items and not for sale, and authentic besides that. If their premise was about counterfeits, they are wrong and you have to assert both points: no sales, and authentic. I would not send receipts, this isn't going to matter. Authentic receipts often are shown by counterfeiters.

Thank you! I will write to them again. In my 10 appeals I covered both points, but not at the same time. With (1) being indirectly answered by their automated reply that my account was suspended for the sale or promotion of counterfeit goods. I was thinking attaching a receipt (or anything) would maybe get a human to look at the appeal rather than get bot replies that lead to nowhere.

Please consider that you might be dealing with a bunch of low level idiots and you may not want them to have any personal info at all! I tend to take Instagram with a grain of salt these days, it’s kind of a mess! There are a million obvious fake bag accounts and they are busy busting you! I would personally let it go and have fun posting your beautiful pics as memories to a new account.

Thank you! Their Privacy policy explains that data might be given to their service providers and who knows what kind of people get hired by them. Fully agree, I had to block a few fake sellers per day and surely amassed hundreds if not a thousand of those on my blocked list.

While my ID doesn't include address or social security number I am already iffy about them having my name (too late). Let alone in connection with my birth date (indicated a fake one on my facebook profile, the friends who need to know know my real one anyway).
