Right-hand Ring: Harry Winston or VCA

First time posting in this forum and looking for your opinions on a ring. Criteria are a white metal and something not too delicate. I'm considering these two rings:

Winston Gates by Harry Winston, Platinum Diamond Ring
$6,000USD. 31 round brilliant diamonds weighing approximately 0.40 carats, set in platinum.

and

Vintage Alhambra ring
White gold, Diamond
$6,350.00. Diamond(s) : 12 stones, 0.48 carats

Both are lovely. Why choose ? You have to ask yourself... which one makes my heart sing ? Which one I absolutely CAN'T live without. If the answer is both... then buy both, if not... you have your answer because your heart races every time you see and/or think about it. Have you tried both on ? If you are in NYC, the boutiques are near each other. You can go in first thing in the morning. Try on one. Go have breakfast. Then go to the other boutique and try on the other... drink some champagne and then go to lunch. Go home and sleep on it... you will dream about 'The One' and then go get it or them.

I plan to visit NYC in December (for my birthday) and will try both rings on. I was looking for any feedback on HW vs. VCA, especially considering VCA is white gold and not platinum. Also, as there isn't much info that I've found regarding HW on these forums, I hoped to learn if anyone had any particular experiences (bad/good/indifferent) with HW.

I think the VA ring is far more iconic and recognizable and will hold it's value better should you ever decide to sell it. I just think few, if any, people would recognize the other one as HW. Both have a high brand mark-up, but I think Alhambra is worth getting more than many other branded jewelry lines.

As much as I like VCA, I would pick the Harry Winston ring.

I agree with you in terms of the design. I’m just so conflicted between a unique design (in platinum) vs an iconic design.

This is a toughie. If it’s a forever ring, don’t worry about resale or recognizability. Buy the one that fits your style more and sings to you when you try it on.

Happy to hear it’s a tough choice, especially from folks with so much affection for VCA.

I have never bought anything with the intention to resell so yes, it will be a forever piece. I also hope to wear it daily.

For a RHR, no question VCA. A RHR is meant to make a statement and no company does statement in a tasteful and elegant and enduring (credit to @DS2006) way better than VCA.

I think you have to go with what makes your heart sing when you get it on your finger. I don’t like the VCA myself but that’s my taste. I like uniqueness and I like things that are not easily identifiable.
