Hello all, has anyone living in NYC purchased a bag from their site yesterday and got slapped with crazy taxes?? In all the hype yesterday I didn't pay attention( this was my THIRD ATTEMPT trying to get one). When I saw my invoice there was NY sales tax $16.20 and Queens County Tax for $19.20!! plus $10 for fedex. I am sooooo PISSED right now. I have never in my life heard of Queens County tax. I have contacted them and still no response. Does anyone know where these bags are being shipped from??:rtr:

The company is based in NY, so it is normal that you would pay NY tax if you are having the bag shipped within the state. $10 is a fairly reasonable price for shipping and you will get the signature MG box for buying directly through the company. I think many would pay the $10 for that alone!

I cannot speak to a Queens County tax, as I've not heard of that before. I imagine they are flooded with questions and inquiries the day after their big release, but hopefully they will get back to you with some info soon! Let us know what you find out.

The company is based in NY and presumably you had this bag shipped to Queens, where they have an additional sales tax. Here is a link to NYS tax codes:

I live in Queens and am subjected to it whenever I buy anything over a certain $ amount online (I think it's over $50 an item). It's definitely annoying, but I'm aware of it when I purchase something and wouldn't think it fair to blame the company for following standard tax law.

I was charged ny state tax and niagara county tax

I don't know if this really matters, but the address for MG on the invoice is actually not from NY, but from North Bergen, New Jersey :P

Either way, it's really unfortunate that you get charged for tax twice!! :(

The tax being charged is the same tax you would be charged for any NY purchase. The difference is that on the MG invoice, it is itemized rather than shown as a total NY tax.

You are not paying any additional tax.

Yes I realized that after I got over my annoyance , :greengrin:and examined my invoice again. the way they broke it down both percentages added up to the total 8.875 tax for NY. I received my bag today and its so TINY :faint:. I purchased the mini mini bucket/ballerina. Its beautiful but i should have purchased the mini.
