I bought a pair of excellent 1cttw diamond studs and I LOVE them, except for the part that they were white gold.
I know there is a huge debate whether diamonds look better in white or yellow gold, but my heart told me what I really wanted was the studs in yellow gold.
I used to have a pair of studs in a martini setting in yellow gold and while I loved the setting, the diamonds were crappy, so I sold them. So I know I will love my new pair in yellow gold.
Now comes the question, would you plate the prong tips in rhodium, or would that defeat the purpose of having the studs reset in yellow gold? My martini settings had the prongs in yellow, but my new studs will have 4 prongs.
Thanks in advance for your opinions!

You could’ve just had the original pair reset into yellow gold settings. They sell them completely yellow gold and yellow gold with white gold prongs. Personally, if I wanted yellow gold studs I’d do yellow all the way. If the prongs are white gold the earrings will appear white gold because all you see when wearing them are the diamonds and prongs.

That’s what I did! I’m resetting the stones

Makes sense that it would defeat the purpose of resetting the stones in yellow gold

I think I’m going to leave them all yellow gold, and I can always Rhodium plate the prongs in the future if I feel the earrings need it…
I’m sooooo excited to get them. They’re going to hopefully become my everyday earrings! I usually like variety, but I just love the size and comfort of the 1cttw studs!

Congratulations on your beautiful new studs - can’t wait to see them!

As a lover of yellow gold and having diamond studs set in yellow gold myself, I would definitely say not to plate the prongs. Diamonds will still look beautifully white and sparkly in yellow gold if they are good quality.

Great! Thank you! I’ve seen your diamond studs set in yellow gold and I have always admired them. I will pick them up Monday morning and I will take a pic
