I originally did a BA and Rhinoplasty with Dr. Kwon from Opera. The BA turned out great but the rhinoplasty turned out botched. During the first 6 months there was no noticeable bump, just a slight little bump, so I thought well maybe it’ll sort itself out but then one day during a car ride I touched my nose and noticed there was a NOTICEABLE DENT and I FREAKED OUT!
As you can see from my picture the cartilage implant shifted and there was a huge dent. This was such a hit to my self esteem and I was very self conscious of it and it was getting worse. I saw a plastic surgeon locally in Australia and he told me that there was inflammation and eventually the implant will erode through the skin. Not immediately but eventually. Anyway he advised to return to the doctor who did it (is it advisable to go to the original doctor who botched it? IDK). I got a quote from a local revisionist rhinoplasty surgeon and it was about $14k AUD so that was out of the question lol.
I couldn’t do anything for two years because of the pandemic. I hated my nose so much. Opera was of no use when I contacted them about it. I did hear that their English speaking team left with Dr. Kwon to another clinic on this forum? Could explain why my messages were seen but ignored.
Several months ago I did a consult with Nana over FB messenger. I consulted several other clinics. What set Nana apart was the consultant was very friendly on top of decent prices and no bad reviews from what I’ve seen online.
So here is the rundown of the price:
990,000 krw for face graft (this is a special promotional offer on their page)
6,000,000 krw for revisional rhinoplasty (includes nose bridge and tip)
500,000 krw for osteotomy
500,000 for hump removal (thought I didn’t need any?)
3,500,000 for Ptosis Correct Surgery + 1,000,000 Revisional Fee (I had DES before)
Had 35% off for multiple surgeries so turned out to be about 9.1 million KRW or about ~7.3k USD. Ish. I think these were the numbers.
I wish they could have mentioned Anesthesia Fee before the consultation for planning!
I did HIFU beforehand (at Muse Clinic, SUPER cheap prices and $50 jaw botox), which I read according to several doctors was actually recommended or can only help with fat graft.
I came to the reception level at around 9am (surgery scheduled 10am but it ended up going at 11am due to the time it took to get ready). I waited while watching videos they had on screen of patients giving testimonials.
The interpreter came who was a nice, friendly girl that studied English in Malaysia.
They had me change into a hospital gown with pants and some disposable underwear, and also had me wash my face. I was also given a little care package which included icepack for eyes (but I can’t use because I got fat graft to my eyes!) and 2 facial masks:
They did a blood test, blood pressure test, and took my temperature. They then did a CT scan.
The interpreter went over the documents carefully and explained the surgery. I signed a million forms lol.
I met with the doctor, Dr. Kim Hyung Jun who was soft spoken and seemed very nice and like he cared! He drew marks on my face. Confirmed with me that the original rhinoplasty was a botched job (I was wondering if that was just a common complication from using cartilage and if it couldn’t be helped?). He took his time drawing my eyelid lines using some curved pokey stick. I had multiple eyelids and just wanted one, and also they were a bit sleepy. He didn’t seem like he was trying to rush me or anything.
He also did a sort of simulation of the nose I would get on the computer using the imaging they took of my head:
I showed pictures of where I wanted my fat grafted (middle of forehead, under eyes, smile lines, cheeks, and lower lips). He told me he couldn’t graft my “love band” and fillers would be better.
After that I went to go and pay for my surgery. It ended up being $1000 aud more than I had anticipated due to revisional fee and anesthesia fee! I was considering removing the osteotomy and hump correction but the interpreter talked me out of it and suggested removing the eye surgery instead which I didn’t want. Anyway I decided to phone my partner and asked him “Do you love me?” which made her crack up. He sent me $1000 and just said he expected it anyway lol (I love him!). Then I found out I get about $750 back from tax return so it was no biggie. So I paid with my card and she processed the tax return receipt for me.
She explained to me that for fat graft, eyelid surgery, and nose surgery, it will take about 5 and a half hours. They will put me under for 10-15 minutes first while they prepare surgery, then wake me up and do local anesthesia for eye surgery (they said some people will remember/not remember and it depends on the person… I was fully aware lol). Then they will put me under for the rest of it.
I was really nervous as they strapped me down. They put a mask over my face. I tried to distract myself by chatting with the interpreter. They put me under, then I slowly woke up. I was dazed but slowly regaining consciousness till I was fully aware. I remember saying, “Sleep soon?” because I did not want to be awake but no one answered lol. Because it would not be the case.
The surgeon was thorough which I appreciate. He had me open and close my eyes like 50 times: “open eyes please”, “close eyes please”, “open eyes as wide as possible please”. I couldn’t feel it, only some pressure sometimes and a burning smell. I just remember thinking I wanted them to put me to sleep, it didn’t hurt but it was uncomfortable and not exactly the greatest to be awake and I just wanted to be put under again. They had youtube open with some korean pop on.
My back was sore and I was thirsty and my mouth was super dry during the surgery. I closed my mouth so it could moisten as much as possible. But I am glad he took his time for it to be even! He chastised me at some point saying it was a difficult surgery and I needed to relax because I think I was tense and fidgety, so I apologized lol.
Eventually they helped me up to use the bathroom (I did need to pee but I really wanted an excuse to swish some water in my dry ass mouth from the sink).
Then I went back under and woke up. They had me sitting up in a chair with a blanket. It was warm and I was dehydrated as hell. I was woozy and sitting there for a long time, bored out of my mind and just wanted to GO! And drink water! Eventually I got to go and the interpreter took me to the pharmacy where she gave me post-op instructions.
I walked myself to the hotel that they booked for me that came with the promotion. It wasn’t too far, about a five minute walk.
Day 0 post-op
Got to the hotel after grabbing a bunch of pumpkin porridge packages and some yogurt and boiled eggs from the convenience store on the way.
Took me 5 mins to the hotel they booked.
There was no microwave so I just ate the porridge without microwaving (not supposed to be eating hot food anyways shrug). The hotel room is nice and clean and modern. My gums are sore from anesthesia.
I was very uncomfortable and sore from the lipo area which was right on my pelvis region (I already did fat graft so there was no fat left on my thighs so they took from my belly and I think my pelvic area. I had a FAT vagina, like I think the only place with fat on it lol. I looked like I had a man bulge).
The nose stuffing was the worst as. I got to get my stuffing taken out early at 6pm the following day as I was going to fly home the morning after tomorrow. I just propped up some pillows and occasionally walked around the room to help with swelling and just videoed my partner to take my mind off the discomfort. Couldn’t talk still. Nose was still draining fluids like blood. Here’s a tip: bring some moisturizer for your lips because they will be chapped from the dehydration!!!
Good thing I wasn’t getting much sleep anyway because the walls weren’t the thickest and next door was a couple who had NOISY sex (well not so much the guy, he didn’t make a peep, but the girl was acting like she was in some JAV with all the high pitched crying-screaming she did, like her boyfriend had some hulk sized PP IDK). And they would do it for an hour. Three times that night. One at 7pm, 5:30am and then 7am. I had to bust out the earplugs each time. It was SO annoying.
