Bought LV oxford ballerina patent leather shoes in Nov 2013- was a little snug on the toe area. The SA mentioned the leather will stretch a little.

These were my first LV shoes.

Anyway, wore the shoes 2 weeks straight to break it - to work, to shopping, Monday to Sunday... the shoes finally became comfortable to wear... they finally fit like a glove.
However, first noticed that cracks line appear in the stitch line.
Brought back to LV; and had the specialist to check on it.
According to the specialist, it's the wear and tear and they will repair it for a fee. I argued it was the design flaw because the leather stretched from the stitch line I was devastated.

I have a pair of patent leather flats from Ferragamo bought a few months earlier than the LV oxford. The shoes are still in good condition- no cracks.

Anyway, I have decided not buy patent leather shoes from LV anymore. Best to stick with full leather where the stitching is concealed.

But in the meantime, it's been 3.5 years now & I shall keep wearing the shoes until they fall apart.
I stay in humid country, where sometimes I may walk under some rain/ wet floor. But never soaking wet.
Will allow the shoes to fully dried before I keep them.
I store them in shoe cupboard with a humidifier absorber next to it.
I cleaned them occasionally (like once a year) with wet wipes...

(The mentioned above are my personal opinion and honest review on the shoes.)

The shoes still looks good from far (& no flash).

While LV shoes are beautiful to look at I personally find, for the most part, that they're not worth the price in terms of quality or functionality. Unfortunately this is vernis leather and when it stretches, as in the case of these shoes being "broken in", it has no choice but to crack since it's essentially laminated unlike other leathers such as empriente. Such a pity.

OP thank you so much for starting this thread! I was looking at these shoes on the website a couple of hours ago and thinking of purchasing them. I live in a humid place as well and will probably have the same problem as you if I were to buy them. Thank you for saving me a lot of money!

Thanks for your review & all the photos. They really don´t hold up well at all  .
I was considering getting these ballerinas, but this is too much money for such poor quality.
This was very helpful!

I have same shoes in the rose patent and in suede. The suede have held up better it I probably don't wear them as much as I'm always concerned it will rain. But no, LV women's shoes do or hold up as well as other designer shoes.

For shoes that have been worn for years, that are low to the ground, the wear & tear on these shoes looks normal to me.
I just sold on eBay a pair of Gucci drivers in red suede that showed similar wear after several years of use. I don't expect my shoes to look new for more than a month when I wear them frequently!

I agree, I have a number of lv shoes in different leathers. I wear them often and although I'm careful they are in the end still a shoe and will show wear and tear faster than our other leather goods.

I've frequently taken them to have the heels repaired after they've been damaged going between paving stones. It's an unfortunate side effect of footwear. Just enjoy them for what they are. A shoe to be worn.

Yes, these shoes have been worn for couple of years.
Unfortunately , I don't have the photos when the shoes were just 2 weeks old- where the crack lines are showing along the stitches. I agree with Miss Krys- where the cracks are due to the laminated outer layer to the stretched leather.

Anyway, ever since the crack lines appeared; I was like 'to hell with it...'
Thus I stopped being too careful or gentle with the shoes... and wear as it should be...

As I have mentioned earlier; the shoes fit like gloves... The only thing is ,it pains me that this expensive is showing signs of wear faster than my 'cheaper' everyday slipper...

Ps: my hubby's LV leather loafer (bought in the same as I did in Nov 2013) holds 'freaking' much better than my oxford..

maybe next time I'll do a review on his shoes..
