I recently got one of Hermes’ new eyeshadow palettes and mascara.

I was asked to give a review so here are my first impressions!

Just FYI. I am Asian. I have the classic short straight sparse Asian eyelashes.
I always wear the Lancôme mascara base to lengthen my lashes.
The mascara base is white so I assume that the colored mascara will show more prominently or brightly since there’s a layer of white underneath.
I also always wear an eyeshadow primer to help my eyeshadow be crease-free and last all day.

Hermes eyeshadow
Used this today. The shadows are pretty pigmented and buttery soft. I’m not into heavy or more intense makeup looks so I had to use a light hand when tapping into the pressed powders. But they felt great and blended well!

Hermes mascara
The formula is not thick or sticky. It’s quite smooth, and liquid-y.
I would give it a few seconds to dry if you’d like to build up.
The wand has a lot of product. Too much for me. I wiped the amount I wanted to use on a disposable mascara wand to apply onto my lashes.
I’d say it’s more of a lengthening formula. Did not really make my lashes thicker. But they separated well and did not clump or stick together.
Color is beautiful. A nice wine red color on my white mascara primer. It would probably be a deeper color on my natural lashes.

I put on my makeup around 9am today? It’s 7pm as I write this.
Still looks great! No eyeshadow creasing or fading.
Mascara did not smudge or flake. (I used on both upper and lower lashes)
I’ll probably go buy the purple color version as well lol.

A quick update on the Hermes mascara!

I think it's on its last legs, haha. I was scraping around the bottle earlier this morning.

I used it quite a lot in first 1-2 months and then just sort of used it when I felt like it.

The formula was initially very thin and wet as stated in my first post, and did eventually get drier and slightly stickier over time. Not to the point where there were chucks or they would clump up my lashes. Still did not have any issues with application as the product got a little drier over time. Just something I noticed.

No flaking, smudging, or smearing in all these months of use! And wow, time has flown! I've basically used this mascara for 6-7 months.
I think the general rule is after opening mascara has a lifespan of about 6 months? So, it's definitely hit it. I think if I used it almost everyday I would probably have finished it in about 3-4 months.

Overall thoughts.
I think it's a nice colored mascara that is long lasting and has a beautiful color. It has no other properties (ie. lengthening, curling, thickening, etc.) besides the color.
It is pricy. I think $100 USD? But a great colored mascara if one wants to treat oneself!
Great if you also like color here and there but not all the time everyday. I think the cost would definitely add up if you're a consistent colored-lash girl.
For me, I would still buy again. It would be a once a while purchase, but still happy to buy, especially now that I've had my time with it and know what to expect.

$100 for a marginal liquidy mascara?
No way. It is criminal.
For colored mascaras, if you need volume YSL or Dior show are exceptional. They don’t smear provide excellent color, volume and you don’t need a primer.
YSL does dry faster than usual. ( less than a year)
If you have good lashes and crave colored novelty, buy L’Oréal.

I don't like volume in mascara. I prefer length for my sad short lashes (which for regular mascara I have my favorites already). But thank you for your input.

Did Hermes provide length?
Although realistically speaking only false lashes provide length.
As a person who has been using
Prestige make up her entire life, I can’t get behind a hundred dollars mascara. It is just unreal especially coming for a brand known for leather goods.
Nope.

If I had to choose between volume and length, the Hermes mascara is slightly lengthening.

As a person who mainly bought the Hermes mascara for the color, having lengthening properties was not a priority in the decision-making process. And therefore, it did not bother me if it was lengthening or not, or how lengthening it is.

Of course, I totally understand. We all have our own thresholds for what we are willing to pay for. Just sharing my experience with these particular Hermes product. If it can help others make a decision to buy or not to buy, then that's great!

I appreciate your feedback and had to check reviews. It is actually $68 and the second highest priced mascara at Saks after a brand named la bouche .
