I'm in the mood for black in December because I actually scored two black bags this month. The first one is my PCE bag - the Waverly Coated Canvas tote. I got the black tote with the gray and white C's. It also exists in the khaki color so far. Hopefully they will introduce the multicolor or pink for spring. With PCE the bag cost me $201 + tax, which was definitely a selling point for me because I am on a budget for the holidays, but still wanted to use my PCE.

So far I am loving it! The coated canvas in comparison to the Heritage Stripe line (I'm using my khaki/berry tote from 2008 to compare) is thinner, but it's not a total deal breaker. The bag does go flat without stuffing and barely stands on its own without contents. The texture of the canvas is smooth. The bag has black patent leather handles and black leather trim. I was worried that the stitching would be cheap or something, but it's not. It's very clean and even. The bag also has two useable turnlock pockets on both sides. The pockets aren't snug like I've exprienced on other bags I own. It's just enough room for me to get my hand in and out comfortably. Good for stashing my cell phone or keys or something I need to access easily. The bag does not have any zipper or magnetic closure, which I didn't realize prior to ordering, but again, not a deal breaker. The drop of the bag goes just under my armpit and the bag is tall enough that when you are wearing it on your shoulder, the top of the bag closes under your arm so your contents are not exposed. Hope that makes sense.

I am going to try the bag out today since the weather in So Cal is actually gloomy and rainy today. This was one of the main reasons why I purchased this bag. I love my Heritage Stripe bag because the coated canvas is so easy to care for and it's a bag that's perfect for any weather situation. If anyone is interested, I can post how it holds up in the rain.

Overall, this is a bag I'm pretty satisfied with despite ordering sight unseen. Here are my pros and cons:
Pros: Easy to care for coated canvas, leather trim, clean and even stitching, cute print, useable outside turnlock pockets, roomy interior, gorgeous purple lining (an added bonus for me)
Cons: No closure for the bag, thinner canvas than Heritage Stripe, drop could be a tad bit longer

With all that being said, here are the pics!

Lastly, the other bag I scored has not arrived yet, but it is the MFF Ergo Satchel in black patent leather. Here's the auction on eBay so you can see pics: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320458236516&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT My sis showed me this bag last week at the outlet, but I left without it and ended up regretting it. I like this bag especially because it has silver hardware and gorgeous purple lining (I know, I'm a sucker for the purple lining). I decided I am going to give this bag to my sister for her 21st birthday in February, but hopefully she'll be nice and share. Hehe!

You say the handle drop is less than your coated HS bag? How does it sit on your shoulder? Does it slide off?
I think the HS coated have more duckcloth type of lining than satin, you think it's easier to damage?

It sits well on my shoulder. I just put on my jacket (getting ready to head to the outlets, haha) and it's a snug fit, but it does sit well. I don't imagine it will slide off my shoulder, but we'll see how it goes while I'm shopping. And because the handles are patent they stick to each other when they sit on top of one another so that does help.

I really hope this tote won't damage. The material seems durable and I'm pretty confident in it, but it is thinner like I mentioned. The HS material is more stiff whereas this material is a tad bit more flexible, but not flexible to the point where it would fold or crease. If you see the wallets at your local boutique or at a dept. store it might help give you a better idea. But yeah, I'm heading out soon so I'll keep you guys posted on the durability.

wow, i actually like the way it looks IRL. the website pics don't do it justice. that's a great deal for $200 too. i also hope they come out with other colors. i'd snatch this up in white/multicolor c's like the japan accessories they've made. are you listening coach?!

Congrats! Your new bag is gorgeous! I love coated canvas (have several heritage stripe bags), so I may have to check this tote out! Thanks so much for the pictures and review! Enjoy your new purchase!
