The only time I ever experienced "color transfer" was with a brand new pair of rag and bone jeans. If you fear new denim, put it on, and run your hands on the denim. That's what I did, apparently as a nervous gesture. My hands turned blue. If dye is going to transfer, it will easily go to hands as the pressure exerted is way more than a bag can ever independently apply in addition to natural oils that will draw out dye anyway.
