there once was a little monkey named george. he was a very good little monkey, but he was always VERY CURIOUS.

one day, when he was being a good monkey and sitting on the couch, the nice lady who lives in the house put a bag on the couch and said, 'george, i am going to put this bag on the couch. please do not disturb it or get into any trouble while i make a quick trip to the grocery store.'

george nodded his head.

when the lady who lives in the house left for the store. george walked to the bag and thought that he couldn't possibly be disturbing the bag just by standing next to it...

after george stood by the bag for a few minutes, he thought to himself that surely PEEKING into the bag could hardly be considered 'disturbing.' being a curious monkey, george decided to take a peek...

in the brown bag, he saw two boxes and some sort of book with stars and writing on it. he decided that he would take the items out of the bag to take a look. he could always put them back inside the bag. surely LOOKING wasn't the same thing as 'disturbing'!

george thought about putting the ribbons back on the boxes and putting the boxes back into the bag, but he was just too curious and decided to take a peek inside the boxes.

the small box had a soft yellow thing with writing on it. unfortunately, the soft yellow thing wasn't bananas :sad: the bigger box had some white paper in it. how boring!

'what could possibly be inside the paper?' george thought to himself. so he decided to take a peek.

the bigger box had the same soft yellow thing in it as the small box. unfortunately, the soft yellow thing in the bigger box wasn't a banana either! :sad:

george remembered that the lady who lives in the house said not to disturb anything, but he didn't think that taking a peek inside the soft yellow thing was really 'disturbing' anything at all.

he decided to take a peek in the big yellow, soft thing and saw something kind of brown and then took a peek in the small yellow, soft thing and saw something shiny and red. unfortunately, they looked nothing like bananas!

george took the two things out of the yellow, soft things and determined that neither was a banana. the bigger thing was brown and looked like a checkerboard. 'maybe the lady who lives in the house will play checkers with me when she returns from the store?' george thought to himself.

george liked the shiny red thing and determined that it must be a christmas ornament since there are lots of shiny red things on christmas trees!

on the brown checkerboard thing, george noticed a shiny gold chain and remembered that when the lady who lives in the house left for the store, she was wearing a bag across her body. george decided to do the same! surely wearing something the same way the lady wears something isn't the same thing as 'disturbing!'
