Hi all

Apologies if there is already a thread on this (Swanky, i promise i searched!) .... i love my e-ring but its kind of sharp. And i was thinking that i might get it re-set on our one year anniversary but get a micro pave halo ...

My question - Platinum is obviously very exy and i wondered if you can 're-use' the platinum from this ring for the remodel?

Thanks!

:D

Not likely. Most jewelers will not recycle a used ring as they don't always know what the alloys included are. They most always will 'scrap' it to a refiner and start fresh.

The jeweler will weigh the platinum or any kind of metal you have and will tell you the money it costs and he can show you bands that are costing the same. I've done that plenty of times.

i had it made by a jeweller and i would go back to him to get it re-modelled ... would that make a difference?
Not likely. The metal having to reused would likely need to be refined before it can be reused. Since you're talking about halo-ing you will likely need a whole new ring.
