My other thread was about my peeling edge paint on my taxi tote. I was going to bring it into Coach this weekend and see what they can do/offer. I did it buy it at Macy's and call their customer service and said they would refund me my money or give a store credit.

Do you think I should bring back to Macy's and get a store credit? I saw they have an Edie on sale in Stone that caught my eye or see what Coach will do? I am just afraid Coach is going to say, sorry we can't fix it..here is a 40% off coupon.

Thoughts?

I would go for the store credit or refund at Macy's. If you send it in to Coach, you'll wait and wait, and who knows what they'll do. In the event they can't or won't fix it, you'd probably get one of those 40% letters. A full refund at Macy's is better than 40%.

I would return to Macy's and take the full refund or store credit. I haven't sent anything in for repair in several years but last time I did - I had to pay $20 or $25 and they ended up sending me a letter that they couldn't repair and offered me a discount on a future purchase.

Customer service was terrible at Macy's and Coach...I am beyond irritated.
I ordered the taxi tote from Macy's online on sale for a total of $214. I bring tote, dustbag and original receipt to Macy's. They cannot refund me or give me a store credit because the SKU# of the bag is not on the receipt so they could not figure out how to process the return and obviously no longer have the bag at the store. I ask to speak to a manager who had a 2 people in front of me waiting to talk to her.
I decided let me see what Coach can do for me...thinking maybe they can just exchange for me and get me a new one. I proceed to Coach, the SA very nice completely understood my frustration. She told me that I could get a new taxi tote and checks the system. They have 1 red currant, 2 Navy and 6 Saddle left in the warehouse no nude left. I said that is fine, I will take the Saddle. She starts the exchange and then proceeds to tell me that because Saddle was never marked down all she can give me is what Nude was marked down to, $148 and I would have to pay the difference of $147 because in the computer it is showing $295. I said I am not paying full price for a bag that is the outlet now where I know I can get it for less. She tells me that if I can find a Saddle at the outlet they should be able to exchange it for me for no additional charge but she has nothing to do with the outlets.

Beyond irritated I go back to Macy's and say I have had it and they are going to make this right and refund my money to my card. I go back to Macy's and ask to talk to the manager again. Of course she was at lunch!! I had to leave to pick up my daughter for a Dr's appt so I am going to call Macy's customer service and see if they will give me a return label to send it back so they can credit my card.

I did find out that Coach is implementing a new repair services 10/29 and they may be able to fix edge paint...who knows?? I am very annoyed!

What a lousy day. So sorry to hear of your frustration.
If you really love the bag, I would try to find a talented shoe/bag repair person. A bottle of EdgeKote is about 14 dollars and is a fairly easy fix.
I would have a nice cool beverage and just return the bag to Macy's. There are several threads on the peeling edges of the Taxi.
Best of luck.

Thanks...I just poured myself a glass of wine. :smile1: I called customer service and got the SKU# so hopefully at some point I can make it back in this weekend. They said to return it to the store because they need to check the "quality" and confirm it is actually peeling.

Coach is going to be updating their repair services in a couple of months, and I believe that repairing the edge paint is going to be a new service that is offered, and the turn around time should be shorter. Just depends on whether or not you want to wait until that service goes live, or you want a new handbag now.

Good to hear!
Macy's is excellent about returns so you shouldn't have any problems.
They will just "damage it out" and return to Coach for a credit so why should they care?
If you live near more than one Macy's try a different one. Otherwise just be firm but polite and don't take no for an answer.
Best of luck.

Updating? or actually providing one. Not directing at you, just Coach. :p

Glad that it seems some progress is being. Sorry you had such a rough go. I totally could sense your frustration. It just shouldn't be this hard with a bag under "warranty".
