On a Facebook group someone had posted this wallet for $100. She’s had previously posted it for around $200 and no one had bought it so she brought the price down as I think she just wants it out of her collection.

Since you guys gave such good advice on the Chanel Jumbo I figured I’d ask here about your thoughts on the wallet.

I had contacted Leather Surgeons but haven’t heard back.

i don't know much about restoration but curious to know what leather surgeons say. keep us posted!

Leather Surgeons basically were like “do what you want but I’d pass on it” Basically said the repair would be more than the price it’s worth and there wasn’t much they could do. They could do a spa treatment to the leather for $120 and fix the coin part but couldn’t re-dip the slivering parts.

Would that mean re-dying the leather and fixing the edges as well?

They don’t dye leather at Leather Surgeons. They’ll graft leather on certain spots(ex. worn corners)

These were the exact emails I got: “Hi,

Do you currently own this wallet or is it one you are considering? In all honesty I'm not sure the repairs would be worth the investment with this piece.

Thanks!”

“Well, it's tough to say, there is a lot we can't help with unfortunately (like the silvering of the hardware) and there are other things that we can repair, like the binding, but really just wouldn't make sense (the repairs would be more costly than the value of the piece). If you just wanted us to clean it up a bit, we could do that for $155 plus shipping, but it really wouldn't be a restoration. My hunch would be to advise you to take a pass on this one, but of course, that's totally up to you.

Best, “

That's disappointing! are you thinking of passing?

Buy it and bring it to local repair shops. I know my local place can make this look like new!
I wish @leather surgeons was more selective with my Chanel. You can find my thread on the work they did.

Fortunately, I found a place that did a fabulous job fixing their mess. I use the bag all the time now that it was made right by my local shop,

Thanks! Do you think $100 is a good price for the condition of the wallet?

All I want is the leather to be restored as best as possible. If they could fix the silvering on the clasp that’d be great too.

Wow I cannot believe they did that to your bag. They definitely should have contacted you to ask if you were ok with the color change before they did it.

I’m hoping to send it out as I don’t know if a good repair person locally.
