Hello everyone,

I am considering buying a pre-owned, older monogram pochette accessoires. It’s not in super great condition (dark honey patina, minor rubbing off of text, comes with a different chain), but otherwise pretty decent. For the price (about half the cost of new), these flaws aren’t super huge to me, but I’m wondering about the potential resale value if I ever choose to sell it. Could I still sell it for about the same I paid for it? Or more?

Any experience owning/reselling semi beat-up older purses appreciated!

Do not buy a beat bag and expect to break even necessarily, and certainly not to make money: it costs quite a bit to resell, so that's an added cost to you. Check Completed and Sold listings on eBay to find comparable ones in condition and their actual sold price. Also note that the PA has existed in several forms, with an early version that zips differently--the chain is itself a moving part of the zipping. They may price differently depending on the version.

My personal opinion is that the inflated resale value on PAs is the new model version. I see many old versions (good condition and terrible condition) being listed for the same inflated prices but they don’t sell, certainly not for the current RRP. I think some owners of the older PA are slightly deluded in what they think it is worth.

I agree with the previous posters, most buyers want the NM and OM is overpriced and doesn't sell the same. I won't buy bags where the monogram is wearing off, and other buyers might feel the same. You might be able to resale to Fashionphile for decent a amount, but I don't recommend going into the purchase already thinking about resale.

Also, eBay now requires your SSN to sell anything on their site. So keep that in mind.

Thanks for all your responses! I guess I was leaning toward this old vintage one because I keep hearing how impossible the PA is to find, and I’m super new to the designer handbag game (but it was become a very fast downhill addiction ). I might try to take a shot at finding a new one first. Thanks again :)
