Hi all,

I'm new to all this forum stuff but being a bit of a Mulberry nut I thought I'd share some info with you. I've just bought a new Somerset shoulder bag in chocolate with the aim of converting it into a messenger style. I had some stuff recently stolen from my Mabel (silly thief obviously didn't notice the bag was worth 10x the stuff he took from inside it; lucky for me!) and I thought that a smaller bag would be better and more secure for when I go out drinking. But, I am likely to drop/lose a clutch. I spent ages looking for new x-body straps and noticed some old posts on this forum too so thought I'd share my find: I found some straps on http://stores.shop.ebay.com/SCECKERT-SILVER-COACH
I've purchased the 1/2" by 54" dark brown straps in leather with nickel snaps to match the Somerset. I'll let you know how well the colours match when they arrive. Hopefully this will make the bag just what I wanted!

Oh sorry for your things being stolen from you, I hope you can replace it all - good job he didn't take the bag heh?

Thanks for letting us know about these straps - they will be useful because Mulberry won't give out straps.

Welcome to the forum by the way, I hope you're like it here - but beware, it can become expensive with all the gorgeous bags you'll want!!!!!!

I use my somerset shoulder as a messenger bag and its really comfy. Dare i say i use a H&M strap i got with silver hardware from another bag and it looks fine. Even had comment from girls in mulberry shop the other day bout it looking ok.

Jaq, please post modelling pics once you get the straps. It seems like a really good idea.

My friend also has an idea of converting her Brooke to a messenger bag if she could find a nice leather strap to go with it but so far she hasn't found it.
