Removing Smell from Shoes?

Any tips for removing the foot-smell from shoes, or keeping them fresh? I've used shoe-balls but is there anything more effective? Any sprays, inserts, or cleaning methods?

note: I did do a search, at least going back two years I didn't find anything on shoes in general, it was all specific types (about Uggs, revas, etc). Anything earlier than that might be outdated. If there is such a thread please direct me to it

I spray the inside of my shoes with Febreze, seems to work

I'm not sure what smell you wanted to prevent but I find that Odor Eaters shoe spray works really well.

I've used Febreze in the past with good results.

Nothing saves UGGs though, I've determined.

I just bought some sort of Odor Remover from a sporting goods store (Sports Authority or Dick's) and it did the trick! It was nothing fancy or expensive..just a basic odor remover.

Febreze should do the trick too. And if you are talking about sneakers or Uggs, they can be machine washed/dryed! I think there have been a few threads about doing that with Uggs.

Also try leaving your shoes out in the sun for a while.

I have heard that charcoal works wonders but I have never tried it. It absorbs the smell I think.

i think you can leave dryer sheets in your shoes and that'll help. never tried it but i read it somewhere.

Good question! I have that question about my leather shoes too! I should try the Febreeze/Odor Eaters option.

Cedar shoe trees. Plus your whole closet smells yummy -- provided you like the smell of cedar.
