I recently just applied 3 coats of the Saphir cream to one worn out corner of my lambskin flap. I wasn’t too impressed with the result - one scruffed bit was still abit lighter and the depth of colour wasn’t great... plus it was quite matte after and a little rough.

I am thinking that perhaps i should have conditioned it prior. That said I had just used Colonil gel that is supposed to clean/moisturise/waterproof (font use that on your lambskin! removes color!!!) just over a month ago so i thought i could skip that step.

Anyone used this cream before and removed it? I don’t want to use anything too aggressive

There is the Saphir Renomat which is supposed to help remove wax/polish etc but i think it would be too harsh.

Am thinking of perhaps using the Saphir gentle cleanser but that only says that it removes dirt/abit of wax... might be too gentle.

I was thinking of using either Apple/Cadillac (green or select) but i don’t know what is in them...

My plan is to use some sort of cleaner to remove the cream (and maybe on the whole bag to remove the colonil) then use either the Saphir MDO Renovateur or BDC Delicate Cream to condition the bag.

Haven’t decided if I will give the Saphir another go or use a meltonian black (on the way to me now). Meltonian might work better but I did read that it contains petroleum whereas Saphir is all natural.

Renomat is not that harsh from my experience; it actually contains oils to counteract any harshness. You see it as over time as the oil and cleaning compounds separate and you have to shake it again to re-emulsify it. My advice is to use it lightly and sparingly at first to see any result.

The Saphir gentle cleanser you mention is from their Médaille d’Or line which is very high quality and meant for fine or delicate leathers. It's like a cleanser for delicate skin, clean any excess wax/dirt/etc off the leather, but won't dry it out, recommended for lamb, nappa, and cordovan.

Which Saphir cream did you use, the ones from their Beaute du Cuir or Medaille D’ Or?

Yes that is why I want to try use the MDO cleanser as lambskin is nappa... that said the colonil (also their spray) as stiffened my lambskin over time.. guess it is the build up of whatever they put in there which also closed the pores of the lambskin - the cleanser is supposed to help open the pores to allow better penetration of the following creams and polish
