I was on Reddit today and I came across a post talking about those who own replica stuff
This is what someone said:

and a lot of people there are getting triggered and really think that they can get away with showing off Birkins and Cartier from the inside of a ****ty car. Like you own an A5 not a R8, calm down. Truth is, you’re not fooling anybody apart from yourself. There's noway a person would have enough disposable income to spend on bags costing tens of thousands when they don't have the money to spend on a nice house or car.

How old are you? This kind of thinking is incredibly immature.

People don't need to have nice and expensive cars to have nice things; it all depends on what they deem is worth splurging on. Your attitude on this tells me a lot more about your character than someone with a less expensive car and a designer bag, real or fake.

There are plenty of wealthy people who don't feel that they have to have new and/or luxury items, or even an incredibly nice house. There are also plenty of other people who take out loans to live a bougie lifestyle that requires them to live paycheck to paycheck.

From a financial standpoint, it is better to save and spend your money on one or two interests with extra money set aside in savings, than to spend everything on every item you "have" to have.

This! I have absolutely no interest in cars, mine gets me from a to b and I don’t really care how it looks to others, but handbags are my passion and I enjoy spending my money on them.

However, I know some people love cars and would spend every spare penny on them and scoff at my interest in bags.

My view with luxury goods / hobbies is to let people live the way they want to, unless they’re harming you or themselves why does it matter?

this!

Warren Buffet used to drive a $20k Cadillac and still lives in the same house he bought in 1958 so judging people based on their car or house doesn’t really make sense.

There are people where I live making over 300k a year and have no debt, but still can’t get a house because houses here are over $2M unless you’re 2-3 hours out of the city. These people certainly aren’t “poor”.

The only people I know of constantly trying to figure out if someone is carrying a rep are people who have some sort of replica themselves but can't bear it.

I don't have any opinion on reps so long as no one tries to sell them on to someone else as authentic. I used to know a few girls who would constantly comment on the wardrobes of other girls they disliked and say this or that bag might be a replica because they likely didn't earn enough to buy them.

In the mean time they were eyeballs up in debt from buying designer bags and shoes while living off rich parents / boyfriends. Also, they both owned replica Cartier love bracelets (at the very least), because said parents / bfs refused to buy those for them.

One of them also stole money from roommates / boyfriends.

I guess they had some moral superiority from "only" doing replica jewelry, idk...

:drinks: You said it, sister.

I have no opinion on replicas but the thinking that what you wear says anything about how much money you have is so off especially in the social media age. Where I live it's very common to meet people with $1m+ income who drive beater cars and don't give a hoot about designer anything. The vast majority of people you meet wearing head to toe designer won't be actually wealthy but drowning in credit card debt or making huge lifestyle sacrifices just to afford that stuff.
